Straight out the book 
To be completely honest, this house was hard to follow as a kid. There arent any dimensions other than layering. Lowk kinda pissed me off. But they’re still good books

I didn’t even know there were Minecraft handbooks
The one I posted a picture of is from the Construction Handbook.
These were some books made by Egmont Books in 2013.
Essential Handbook – Talks about surviving the first night, along with some information about the mobs, controls, food, all that stuff
Construction Handbook – Showcases builds and has some build tutorials
Combat Handbook – More information about mobs, hostility/pacefull/neutral, the End, Nether, potions, enchanting, PVP, TNT Canon, etc.
Redstone Handbook – All about redstone and how to build some comtraptions along with information about redstone elements. I recently watched a redstone youtuber cover every Mojang book for redstone and how it holds up. He said this book holds up well, the others not so much (there are other books from this series, the books I listed still hold up well, except for some update stuff).
These had interviews from Jens and Notch along with other developers and youtubers (Capitan Sparkles frequently featured or authoured some parts). Build showcases from the community (FyreUK being a big contributor), and some tidbits about the game.
IIRC the authours were kind of tailored to what book they wrote. A woman who never played the game before and picked it up to write the book. (she also wrote the combat book)
Yogscast/FyreUK made the Construction handbook
and then i couldnt find anything on the Redstone Handbook authour
