Hello my fellow South Pacificans!
I am grateful to have the honor to come before you seeking confirmation to serve as Minister of Integration for this upcoming term. I wish to thank PM-elect @HumanSanity for his appointment and confidence.
We’ve made enormous strides in Recruitment and Integration over the past year or so and from those efforts have grown a small crop of new, eager talent. Should the Assembly confirm me as MoI, my overarching goal would be to leverage this energy to develop our nascent infrastructure into a sustainable set of technologies and practices to support the Coalition.
I tend to think of Recruitment and Integration as a holistic system that encourages the flow of people from the extremities of our community towards its core, so allow me to walk through each step in that journey to discuss what I plan to do with the ministry.
Step 1: Into TSP
The greatest tool we have to pull people from abroad into TSP is recruitment TGs, which I’m happy to say have had a bit of a resurgence of late. @xshotss put together a very effective telegram competition that generated quite a bit of excitement, but we now need to find ways to carry that excitement forward and create a sustainable telegram community in TSP. To this end, I will:
- Create a hub of telegram templates for recruiters to use (which will include general recruitment, follow-ups on recruits and special events) that will sit alongside Shots’ TGing guide.
- Begin regular reporting and the maintaining of a leaderboard of those who have sent the most recruitment TGs.
- Incentivize competition on that leaderboard with recognition and cards (though I am open to other ideas on how to encourage people too!).
Step 2: Connecting to the broader community
Once a nation is either founded or recruited to TSP, the next step is getting connected to the broader community, both on-site and off-site. This is an information game, where we have to fight through the noise of the rest of NS, which is itself a balancing act of scale and a human touch. To this end, I will:
- Identify a series of “Activity Triggers” which we can capitalize on to reach out to new members with information and encouragement on where to go from there.
- Build protocols and technologies that flag people who have tripped these triggers and potentially notify a team that someone needs to be reached out to.
- Recruit and maintain a team of community members that receives those notifications, makes the outreach, and remains available to those recruits for any follow-up questions.
- Personally be as available as possible, over all venues of our community, to answer questions and guide newer members.
Step 3: Deeper Involvement
Finally, when someone has been connected to the community, our next goal for them becomes deeper involvement in the areas that they are most interested in, be it enlistment in the SPSF, debate in the Assembly or writing for TSSG. This step isn’t one-size-fits-all and (apart from some key touchstones) begins to branch out into a spiderweb of initiatives. To this end, I will:
- Continue development work as needed on the Getting Involved Wizard, including hunting down links to its previous incarnation.
- Collaborate closely with my fellow Cabinet Ministers and other community leaders on their recruitment and integration needs and what the Ministry of Integration may be able to do to support them.
- Build a government cards initiative to ensure that we have a steady supply to be used for rewards and retention programs across the region.
- Ensure that the places displaying government information, particularly for involvement, are correct, accessible and up-to-date.
There is a lot to do, and I cannot hope to do it alone. I am extremely happy to announce that, should I be confirmed, @flowerpetal will be joining me as a Deputy Minister of Integration. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Hya in the military sphere, and have seen her do great work with guides and other informational tasks. She will be working particularly on many of the technical aspects of the above agenda, especially when it comes to building the “Activity Triggers” infrastructure. I have full confidence that her insight and expertise will be invaluable in the coming months.
