How’s your day been?

I’m very sorry to hear that. I think it was Christopher Hitchens who said that a melancholy fact of aging is the realization that you can’t make old friends. Not sure if that sentiment will really cheer you up, but I’ve always taken it as a reason to keep in touch with the old friends that I do have, even when life seems to pull in the opposite direction.

Oof. Hope you feel better.

Had to come home today and it’s already 85+ degrees, muggy, and steamy at 9am. This is why I moved.

Problem: they continue studying at a boarding school while i’m not. He’s forced by his parents and the other one didn’t get accepted to a good school (so he was forced to pick the boarding school) so i feel bad for them nonetheless. And in boarding schools you can’t have your phone and can only gain access to technology at computer sciences studies (once a week for 1 hour 20 minutes). There used to be a phone call time but it was abolished after i graduated, which just made me feel more bad for them cause they can’t contact their parents.

Also it was promised back then by the school managers that parents of students can visit their child once in two weeks and take them anywhere form 7am-5pm. But reality? It’s gone now. They’re in the school from 21st of July UP TILL 26th of AUGUST.

Pretty bad.

Also i wrote the first two paragraphs on Mid-July. But currently I’m in August and i just took a visit to them, it was hella fun! I also took my graduation certificate, that’s why I’m there. I’m looking for friends who hasn’t took them so that i can hitch a ride with them and visit them again, maybe with another friend too; the more the merrier!

(kinda just wanted somewhere to say this) My mum said something along the lines of “you need to get a girlfriend sometime” and I was like “what if it was a boyfriend?” to see how they would react and they said (and im paraphrasing to make it shorter) “it won’t be a proper relationship. You might think it is but if you met the right girl then you would find out what a real relationship is” so safe to say im not gonna come out to my parents anytime soon

Fainted at school during a flag-raising ceremony, not too good. Crush decided they wanted to ignore me, worse. At least a pizza party at the end of the day helped cheer me up a little, stuffed my face full of the delicious goodness.

(sorry for more negative stuff) Today I got the results for my exams (around 3 to 4 years of preparation for it) and I’m pretty gutted with my results. They were terrible and way below mine, my parents and my teachers expectations.
Also my school has a minimum amount of points to be able to continue in the school and if you don’t reach it you have to leave the school. I missed that minimum by 0.5 fucking points.

Update: Turns out that even though one of my grades said “7.5” on the points section which came from a Grade 7 and a Grade 8, it apparently counts the two separately which means I have now gotten over the minimum threshold. Yay. There’s 3 subjects where I got really close to the next grade so I might try to get it remarked though just in case my grades aren’t as bad.

Absurd…

I’m sure this won’t be any consolation, at least in the short term, but it’s hard to overstate the degree to which high-stakes tests are poor predictors of a person’s intelligence or knowledge. Let alone other important intellectual aspects that aren’t even assessed like creativity, empathy, drive, and resilience. It’s an unfortunate reality of modern life that they have come to count for so much. But in the long run they certainly don’t define you.
