Getting Involved Wizard Makeover

Here is the planned rework of the getting involved wizard. These changes should provide the needed information to anyone wishing to apply to these position. These changes also include the new positions that have been introduced during this cabinet. Right now there is no roleplay section, this does not mean it is being removed. I am hoping to get some feedback from more members of the roleplay community on how they want applications to be handled on the wizard. Further more if anyone involved in any of the other areas has any feedback, do not hesitate to reach out. The plan is below:

Get Involved
Now that you know what all there is to do in TSP, are you interested in becoming a citizen, becoming a soldier in the SPSF, or maybe even helping out in a ministry? Read the descriptions provided below and check which ones you’d like to do, and we’ll take you to an application! (You can choose more than one.)

Citizenship
This is the starting point for anyone who wishes to become more involved with our regional government. Becoming a Citizen of the region will grant you significant privileges within our region. This includes the ability to vote for our Prime Minister, run for Prime Minister or any Ministerial position, and apply to join the Assembly as a legislator where you help change or implement TSP law.

☐ I want to apply for citizenship

Cultural Sector
If you are interested in building up our regional culture, this is the place for you. There are many areas within our cultural sector that may be of interest to you. These areas are ‘Holidays and Events’, where you will help create and run events for TSP, ‘Newspaper Team’, where you take part in writing up articles for our regional paper, ‘Resident Spotlight’, where you will interview prominent members of the region, and ‘Wiki Team’ where you will help keep our regional wiki up to date. If any of these interests you, you can apply for individual areas on the next page of the application.

☐ I want to apply for one of the branches of the cultural sector

Ambassadors
If you are interested in foreign affairs, you may be interested in joining the Ambassador Program. This program will appoint you as an Ambassador of our region, where you will be responsible for being an active participant in the culture of your assigned region, sharing the products of our Ministry of Culture, and regularly reporting back to the Minister of Foreign Affairs the major happenings of your assigned region. You must be a citizen to work in the Ambassador Corps.

☐ I want to become an ambassador

Recruiters
If you want to help our region grow and continue to prosper, the recruitment team is the place for you. Here, you will contribute to the effort of integrating new nations into our region by welcoming them and providing them with the necessary information for them to get involved.

☐ I want to become a recruiter

The South Pacific Special Forces
The SPSF is our regional military. As a member, you will help defend our region and work with our allies to defend other innocent regions from the tyrannical rule of raiders that wish to do them harm. Our military has two forces, Tsunami Force and Tidal Force. Tsunami Force is for those who wish to fully commit themselves to our military while Tidal Force is for those who wish to have a more casual approach. It is crucial to understand that the SPSF is not roleplay and involves using a lot of the technical aspects of nationstates mechanics. More information about military gameplay and each force will be provided on the final page of the application if you select SPSF.

☐ I’d like to join the SPSF

Roleplay
Many NationStates players enjoy roleplay (RP), where you get to build up the lore of your country and its people with other players. Whether you’re looking to write stories about your people, report on news from your nation, or simulate trade relations or even war, roleplay is a great choice to get involved.

Our roleplay communities are a perfect outlet to unleash your creativity and formulate your country’s lore and history.

We have a couple of roleplay universes you can join:

  • Pacifica is our main modern-tech roleplay universe set in the world known as Pacifica
  • Sector A1-0 is a universe for Future Tech sci-fi roleplay.
  • Aurora is a medieval-era fantasy roleplay universe.

You don’t need to submit this application if all you want to is roleplay! Please return to the forums to locate our roleplay areas.

What’s military gameplay and why should I be interested?
Twice a day, NationStates updates. It goes through the regions in a set but random order, and within those regions, it goes through the nations in the order that they were first founded. As the game goes through each nation, it counts how many endorsements they have. When it finishes going through the region, it makes the highest endorsed nation the delegate of the region. Delegates can have a lot of control over regions - they can even destroy them, if the region doesn’t have a governor. Military gameplay is the art of controlling who becomes delegate.

Raiders can take over regions by endorsing a raider nation, and making it delegate so that it has complete control over the region. We defenders try to either stop raider nations from becoming delegate in the first place, or take the region back by making a native nation delegate again.

Military gameplay is one of the cornerstones of inter-regional politics. It can introduce you to the wide, wild world of NS Gameplay, which has characters and stories and rich history on an epic scale. It can also introduce you to our good friends and allies in other regions. Unlike roleplay wars, military gameplay isn’t just imaginary - our actions have a real effect on the NS world. It’s also pretty fun in the real world! A good chasing session can fill you with adrenaline. Restoring a region to native control can be extremely satisfying. Pulling off a successful operation with your companions doesn’t just give you that sweet feeling of a hard-won victory, but is a great foundation for friendships. It’s also a great foundation for an interregional political career, as military expertise gets your name known in the wider world of the game. You could be feared, hated, or loved throughout gameplay…

The Branches
The SPSF is composed of two branches: the Tsunami Force and the Tidal Force. The Tsunami Force is the main operational branch of the SPSF, which meets during update to undertake fast-paced, synchronous missions. The Tidal Force is for those that cannot make update time, and is the asynchronous branch of the SPSF that assists with piling, training exercises and off-update detags.

Any prior experience?
If you’ve been part of a military, or have any experience with the Raiding/Defending part of NationStates, please describe it here. Be sure to include the names of the militaries and any ranks you held.

Answer

Are you available during major & minor updates?
NationStates updates around 12AM (major update) and 12PM (minor update) Eastern Time. This is when most military operations take place. Are you usually free during those times? If not, you could still be part of a reserve force!

Answer

Which branch would you like to apply for?

☐ I would like to apply for the Tsunami Force.
☐ I would like to apply for the Tidal Force.
