Sadly I don’t
Thinking of going to DC here in a few months for a day trip or two. Need new food recommendations. I keep hitting up the Red Hen and although it is fantastic, the food scene is more than that!
Also, Maluhia, could we get a cocktails topic up?
DC is nice, there’s a lot of food trucks over there, which is good for when you’re hitting up all the museums. Don’t know that we really ate out much when we were there though.
DC has good food literally in every corner of the city. It really depends what you’re looking for. Once you have the cuisine or style down, I’ll know of a place or two.
I wouldn’t consider myself a cocktail expert. I bet you’re more of a cocktail kinda person. I can get a new topic up here running but I’m not the expert!
I feel heretical every time I say this, but while I’d never consider Panda Express to be Chinese food, it tastes pretty good
Ehhh salmon probably or crunchy bread with peanut butter
Had a baller steak omelet in Western Florida this week. Came with a complimentary Irish coffee too. Good times.
Is it fall yet? My weather forecast…kind of says so. Regardless, let’s see your favorite fall-themed foods:
- Pumpkin spice drink
- Apple cider
- Apple crumble
- Apple pie
- Butternut squash anything
- Pumpkin bread
- Zucchini bread
- Other
It’s a bit esoteric but I have a fondness for… I think it’s a zucchini flatbread? I’m actually pretty terrible with culinary terminology. But it’s unleavened dough made with shredded zucchini and it’s flat, I guess. I think my mom just had to get creative because we planted a few zucchini plants and those things grew much, much faster than we thought they would.
No shit. How fast do they grow???
Pumpkin Spice drinks by and far!!! Any time autumn is around, I go out of my way to get Pumpkin Spice lattes from mainly Dunkin, and this time around I even got some Pumpkin Spice ground coffee, cold brew (both Dunkin brand!), and I even have a Pumpkin Spice chai latte (Oregon Chai brand) that I can mix together with milk.
Also, this autumn Dunkin also has the Dunkalatte (which is coffee milk mixed with… well, coffee!) that I’ve been getting alongside the Pumpkin Spice lattes; and it’s pretty good!!
I can’t live without coffee, and in autumn I can’t live without Pumpkin Spice! Got to have as many I can get before the season ends. It’s my favourite coffee flavour of all time for me!
I never understood the pumpkin spice craze. It’s ok, but it’s not worth the praise it gets this time of the year. I went to Whole Foods once (I call it Whole Paycheck) and I saw pumpkin spice popcorn on the shelf. I understand putting it into drinks, but to spice up popcorn, no thank you.
I chose apple crumble because one of my favorite fall pastimes is heading to the orchard, picking fresh apples, and using those apples to make a crumble.
Apple cider is also up on that list. That’s a drink I forget exists until I see it on grocery store shelves every September/October.
Blackberry cobbler, with whipped cream or ice cream, always a favorite.
And to the grilled cheese question, use mustard inside to aid the cheese spread. And you can get some really good soy cheeses now.
I’ve never had a blueberry cobbler before. I’ve always thought of blueberries as a summer food but I guess whipping together some end-of-season berries from late August and making a cobbler sounds good.
I’m drinking cold Lemonade during fall.
Hey it is Southern California, weather is just summer here
