I am messaging today to inquire if the CRS is doing anything to help with the current transition. It has been an unreasonable amount of time seeing as the next PM elections are coming up. Due to the amount of time this has taken, would it not be acceptable to consider Gryffindor in violation of the endo cap and ask them to resign from the WA or to take active steps in reducing his endo count?
Griff’s been sending out TG’s for ages now telling people to endorse Henn. However several of these nations have told him to stop tging them.
It isn’t really his fault, but I do agree that some action needs to be taken. I think on the RMB it was suggested to unendorse Griff, but I was told it was a huge security risk and all.
Griffindor is still officially the Delegate in every way by law (see Article 3, Section 5 of the Elections Act). Therefore, they cannot be in violation of the endo cap.
Regarding why Griffindor would not want to resign from the WA or reduce their endo count right now, there’s a couple reasons I can think of:
-
Security Risk: Currently, Henn is less than 10 endos above the next-highest nation, Amerion. This threshold is small enough that it would be easy for Amerion to overtake Henn, whether accidentally or on purpose by an enemy region. Therefore, it’s important for Henn to increase the gap between them and other high-endo nations.
-
Reduced WA Power: Keeping our Delegate’s endo count high maintains the power of the WA Delegate’s vote.
Many Delegate transitions take a long time, and at the end of the day, the functioning of our government is not impacted by this. Furthermore, Henn is actively endotarting and TGing people to endo them back, which is of course the most important thing that needs to happen.
All this to say, while the Delegate transition length isn’t great, I don’t think there’s a lot that can be done about it.
Under the law, I am the lawful Delegate until Henn succeeds me. The endo cap is solely calculated based on my endorsements alone until Henn succeeds me.
If the CRS feels that this is the best option, I will, of course, take their order to that effect and resign. However, I feel it would be grossly irresponsible to the region and its short-term (and even long-term) stability, and would be detrimental to the region’s influence in the World Assembly. Additionally, my resignation would cause the region to lose a highly endorsed and highly influential nation that can serve as a bulwark in case of emergency. Lastly, as Henn is still relatively close to Amerion in endos, that would make the region much more susceptible to Deltips. Additionally, this overlooks the fact that most of the SPSF has already endorsed Henn, which needs to eventually end if the SPSF wants to function abroad at full capacity.
As far as it being a security risk is concerned, that has been largely mitigated now that Henn is in the number 2 spot. Asking for unendorsements before Henn reached that point would have made it problematic to keep the transition stable. Additionally, people taking things into their own hand due to their (rightful) frustration with the speed of the transition and telling people to begin unendorsing is also not helpful since the orders are not from lawful channels (and also technically could be seen as treason under the criminal code if we really wanted to split hairs and hurt feelings, which I don’t).
I think, at this point, it’s time for the CRS to step in, issue its own formal telegram to the region, and order the region to act. There hasn’t yet been a formal telegram. It’s time. We need to exhaust all our options.
My plan is to continue my Telegram campaign, conducted fortnightly and intermittently, asking nations that have not endorsed Henn to endorse Henn. I have no doubt Henn is doing the same on his end. From there, once the gap closes to about 20, I will selectively ask 20-25 nations to unendorse me, and an update or two later, we can perhaps bring in some allied members to push the last few endorsements.
This is a frustrating process, I know. No one (and I mean no one) wants this to be done more than I do. However, the region chose to elect Henn, so they must understand that the significant gap I cautioned and warned the region about during the election needs to be overcome. And that isn’t a knock against Henn. Any of the candidates for the election had a similar gap to close if they had won. Doesn’t help that the region chose a summer transition where we are hemmroging nations either ![]()
Any questions?
I don’t remember if you said this, but would it be ok for us to go personally tg people asking them to endorse Henn?
Yes! Go ahead!!! The more people that are asking nations not endorsing Henn to endorse them, the better
Since this has come up before, I’ll briefly clarify — currently, we are withdrawing select endorsements from Griffindor/Ebonhand. We’ll post an update if things change, but at present, members of the general public can keep endorsing Griffindor if they are already.
