Dealings with the devil: Calerosto-dokavian diplomatic meeting

July 1st, 0ABT

After the wormhole treaty was signed the horde of attending delegates slowly started leaving for their ships, and from there to their home nations. It was truly a great day for the sector, cooperation on a scale never seen before. And thanks to the words of princess Lirien and the oikano Fuineth Calerost was to play a major part in the events following.

But this wasn’t a days work finished for Lirien. The covenant was aware that there was a high likelihood for the Dokavian grand amassment to appear, and they had planned for what to do if they do.

A diplomatic message on a secure chanel was transmitted to the dokavian fleet. It was a simple one: a request for a meeting on the dokavians’ terms to discuss relations and potential opportunities. And, to the surprise of covenant diplomats, it was accepted. And so, after dropping Fuineth off on the INS Predator and loading gifts ment for the amassment, Lirien’s shuttle went into the mouth of the beast, docking to the Dokavian flagship. She exited the shuttle with only a few servants and guards with her and greeted the people waiting for her.

“May the light of the gods shine on the place of our meeting, mighty Dokavians. I am princess Lîrien Saelelorth Harthor of Celebar, speaking as the voice of his excellence, by devine right the emperor of Calerost. I am highly honored by you accepting our request for a meeting”

The Dossa gave a slight nod, his avian features now visible. He stood tall, well above the Edhel woman. He wore a mask that obscured his face, but scales could be seen running around his neck, implying it was more lizardlike than avian, despite the feathers around his neck.

“Welcome, star-dweller. I am the Dossa of the Kixveks. Your expression is interesting. All of those who live by the star are so interested in bringing light. This expression has no meaning to us. Yours is an empire of light. Our people have always lived in the void between. You would do well to remember that.”

He let the silence speak for him for a brief second before continuing.

“But the intent of goodwill is understood. Our presence in this Sector seems to be… distressing to many of the nations here. We mean no great harm. We do not plan on staying permanently, but our temporary stay here may be a mutual benefit.”

He sits back down in a chair at the head of the ship, not a single guard around him. “What do you desire? What is your purpose for making this arduous journey onto my ship? What do you believe the Amasser and the Dossas under his command will provide you?”

"Thank you, mighty Dossa, for the generosity of receiving me, and apologies for my people’s greeting being inapplicable for your’s. You are right in assessing that many peoples have been distressed by you, but my people accept you and agree that you not being invited to the wormhole conference was unfair. The lack of diplomatic channels might be to blame for that large discrepancy.

Now, to the reason i am here. As you said, we could offer each other mutual benefits. The covenant of fire, that being Calerost, Trianar, Aquila and the Seraphim Veil, have great experience in what we call hyperspace FTL, traveling superluminously via a nother dimension. From what I’ve been briefed on your people, you do something similar in intergalactic space, but you got separated and stranded. Our knowlage in this form of travel across many different dimensions might be useful to help your people to travel freely again. In return, we ask for nothing more than goodwill, a willingness to collaborate and to trade, for the good of both sides."

The Dossa took a moment. Knowledge about hyperspace dimensions was the Amasser’s greatest goal, as it had been for the last 200 years. To regain access to the holy dimension in would earn the Kixveks much authority and power, and would ensure their standing next to the Amasser in the case of a Great Migration.

Of course, he could not get too hopeful. For two centuries, the Crikes of every single clan worked tirelessly to try to restore access to the dimension they traveled through, and had failed. No matter their knowledge, the Calerostan before him was no “unicorn,” as the humans said- she would not solve the issue immediately.

“We appreciate your offer. Studying other ‘Hyperspace’ dimensions could give us the tools to discover why we can’t access ours. If your ‘Covenant’ can provide us that, we will certainly be more amicable to trade. I am sure the Amasser would be pleased. Now the question is: what do you hope to gain, other than our goodwill?”

“I understand your scepticism, mighty dossa, but there isn’t much more to it. The joint work on hyperspace would not only help your people, but the science and technology shared from the project would also help out people. Besides that, for 200 years, as long as you have been in the sector, you have been isolated, seperate from other nations of the sector. And very often that lead to hostility. By bringing you into the diplomatic system of the sector, making you a voice in it, we hope that we can reduce future hostile encounters and spearhead a more understanding future. A more diplomatic one.”
