This is the thread for discussing the ongoing CYOA. This first post will be used mainly for scheduling information, and will also be used as an “inventory” of sorts to easily show what the character has access to.
As these are the first few posts and are light in work for me to do, I am going to do the first 4 posts (currently: 3rd done!) on a twice-a-week schedule, so expect updates every Monday and Thursday. Then, I will transition into a once a weekly schedule, which will be the norm unless I feel bouts of motivation or posts are not heavy on important content.
The Character has:
RUNES
Lesser Rune of Water Control- A gift from the Naiad-Queen. The water responds to the Husk’s commands lazily, like a poorly-trained animal.
The Sigil of a Long Dead God (1/3). A gift from a god of crackling and chaotic power, shunned by his family and killed many centuries ago. They can feel its hum every time they enter a great scuffle, the power itself goading them into a fight.
ITEMS
Tattered Clothes- These clothes are battleworn from a life long past.
Feel free to give me feedback. Since this isn’t a coded game, it’s very flexible and if you spot an option that I didn’t put I can add it!
Also, feel free to do theorycrafting about the lore, and feel free to ask me stuff (I’ll tell you if it’s a spoiler if it is) any engagement is welcome!
After that first vote, since there’s not a lot of information, I want to ask why those who are willing to share voted for which direction they voted for?
Lore tidbit: When the Naiad-Queen said “Beings of your stature” She is referring to the three “Classes” of beings, organized by how much they need mana.
The “lowest” of these classes are the Humankin. They are the elves, the dwarves, the mermaids, etc. Their bodies produce some latent mana, and they do not need mana at all to survive. They have the least latent power of all the classes but are harder to starve out since they can still utilize some magic with external mana sources. They also can have much larger numbers.
The middle class would be the “Post-Elementals.” They produce around half of the mana they need to survive, and need some external mana source, usually in their environment. This would be dryads, naiads, flamekin, natural golems, etc. They are generally tasked by a god of some sort to protect an enviornment- the only exception being naiads, who do not have a god. They have significantly more latent power than Humankin, but struggle to survive for long periods of time outside of their environments.
The highest class would be the gigants. There are only three Gigant species- Colossi, Dragons and Leviathans. These three species are extremely mana-hungry, and need a significant amount of it to survive. They have extremely great latent power, but need to be able to supplement this power with continuous mana intake.
All three of these species have a Progenitor. The progenitor of the Humankin, are, obviously, humans, who, besides our Husk, are extinct. Of the Post-Elementals were the elementals, which used to be able to adapt to the enviornments they existed in. They are also extinct. Lastly, the Progenitor of the Gigants were the Reapers, a species which survived by absorbing the mana from other creatures. They are also extinct.
1: Sorry for getting at this so late, but: last vote we had a perfect tie- so much that I had to ask someone to be tiebreaker. That one was the elven riddle- a confusing one. Why did you cast your vote a certain way, if you remember?
2: I’ve noticed that it may be hard for you to remember your votes. I’ve kept voting private for now, but are you fine with them being public?
3: would you prefer that I keep using bars, or should I use pie charts instead?
