Section One: Mounted Artillery

“God favors the side with the best Artillery”
Napoleon Bonaparte

Artillery comes in lots of forms. Missile Artillery, Conventional Artillery, Nuclear Artillery, they all fit into what the Rosecordi Consider “Mounted Artillery.” Mounted Artillery is anything that can be fit onto a technical vehicle, can be moved around and used. Standardization has lead to a few main examples, though some from the last hundred stardates still exist, and are in service still.

Here are a few Examples:

MRA-39A “Artificer”

Specification Name: Full Track, 90mm Rocket Launcher, Mobile Rocket Artillery Thirty Nine Alfa.

The Mobile Rocket Artillery Thirty Nine Alfa, better known to crews as the Artificer, is a Rocket/Missile Artillery launch system that can launch several variants of missiles, such as the Common Standard Missiles (CSMs), and Firestorm Unguided Missile System (FUMS).

Section 2: Personnel Carriers

“Unarmored, quick moving, and sure as the Nexus, will be set on fire. Somehow.”
– Governor Krystiria “Longbow” Lightwing, Nexus Territories, on Unarmored Personnel Carriers.

Why add armor to a Personnel Carrier that’s going to stay on a base or on a supercarrier. It’s going to be protected on site. Any Personnel Carrier that has no armor is considered an Unarmored Personnel Carrier, or UPC. Armored Personnel Carriers are battle taxis. Get to the front, drop off troops. Run. Infantry Fighting Vehicles are advanced battle taxis that support infantry. This section will specifically cover UPCs, however there is really only one in service.

WBTV-U “Musical Taxi Service”

Specification Name: Wheeled, 15mm Chaingun, Wheeled Base Transfer Vehicle, Unarmored

Section 3: Mounted Surface to Air/Space Systems

“Averting Access, Defying Death.”
– 137th Air/Space Defense Corps, 12th Space Defense Regiment Motto

The motto of the 137th ASDC, 12th Space Defense SDR of the Rosecordi Defense Corps impacts what Mounted Surface to Air/Space Systems are for. Defend the skies of our planets, moons, and stations. Reach out and touch ships that think they are immune to surface fire. Most MSASS assets don’t have armor, but are hidden nigh everywhere. They communicate by satellite and buoys. Flying around on a Rosecordi Planet without destroying MSASS is tantamount to a deathwish.

SA/SMN-87E

Specification Name: Wheeled, Surface to Air/Space Missile Network Eighty Seven Echo, Common Standard Missile Launcher

The Surface to Air/Space Missile Network is a long distance Planetary Standoff Anti Space/Air. It’s primary job is to reach out and touch ships that stray too close to a planet or moon. It uses the Common Standard Missile. It also has an integration system that links to a radar array, taking heat off the SASMN.-87E.

Section 4, Article 2: Mobile Light Tanks

“Communication, Firepower, Mobility.”
– 305th Nexus Light Firepower Corp Motto

A company of infantry are bogged down in an assault. They call in fire support to their HQ, and to their relief, they get an MLT to their aid. MLTs are infantry support, able to keep up with the quick pace of advance, and on the go firepower that an IFV or APC can’t provide. Unlike MBTs, most only get Passive Protection as opposed to Hard Kill Systems, to safe on weight. Most weigh 70 Tons, a technical feat in the era of MBTs entering into the range of 200~ tons.

Section 4, Article 3: Armored Assault Vehicles

“Yeah, I cleared the house… Off the fucking map.”
– TheRussianBadger

You take the gun of an artillery piece, the armor of tank, and the speed of an APC. You get the AAV. Designed for urban environments when you need that firepower to level a building. They also have Hard Kill and Passive Protection Systems, and better protection on the top, preventing Over Top Attack (OTA) missiles, and ERA for High Explosive Anti Tank rounds.

AAV-1A “Building Leveler”

Section 5: Infantry Fighting Vehicles

“Back in my day, we strapped wood to our APCs and called it a day! You’re one lucky son-ofa-gun to be complain’in!”
– Ret. 2nd Lt. Xander Eastwood, on the comfort of IFVs

Infantry Fighting Vehicles should really be called Infantry Support Vehicles, because that’s what they do. An Infantry Fighting Vehicle supports infantry, carrying them into battle, as opposed to dropping them off. Most have light armor that and Passive Protection Systems. Some carry ATGMs, and some carry mortars. Most also have dual purpose guns, for infantry and for starcraft/aircraft.

IFV-154A - Archer Armored Fighting Vehicle

The Archer Armored Fighting Vehicle is an infantry fighting vehicle, designed in Stardate 12-45-136. Designed to carry 6 fully laden soldiers, the AAFV works in groups to carry infantry to a target, provides rapid dismount capability, is protected from any CBRN threats, has a passive protection system, IR smoke grenades, and has a free fire mortar. It is also the first IFV to have S&T radar for the main gun. It has an additional coax.
