Bhaadea:a new Steampunk/Dieselpunk Canon

Indeed! You can basically have modern day tech if you’re wise enough in how you replace components and principles with different kinds of magic.

I’m inventing power armor and no one can stop me!

Magic is weak, unpredictable and dangerous. Steel is strong and certain, while true power lies in oil. Glory to the Kaiser and his Kaserreich!

would we like to introduce a (player induced) soft cap to tech? If we really wanted to rp modern day tech, we’d be in pacifica.

I think a 1950s tech stop for magical tech is fair and leaves room for opportunities, while not being critically overpowered.

Reminder that modern day tech is

ICBMs

Tanks

Drones

Stealth Centric Aircraft

spaceflight

It’d be extremely powercreep and I wouldn’t like to RP in this setting if my flyships are being intercepted by missiles or nuclear rockets

I agree with this

Though we should still make space for some cool stuff like dieselpunk killer robots

Yeah, that’s fair. I was a bit exaggerating earlier lol, but yeah. 1950s seems perfectly fair.

Oh yeah, 1950s-esque but with room for cool magic stuff.

Unrelated but here’s the flag of the Caeledian Empire.

@Detroix @Stormfire10 Automation and magical robotics will be allowed though, roughly similar to today’s.

As evidenced by the very first messages.

1950s = Nuclear bomb exist

Any thoughts?

Me Empire:
You want oil? I gib you oil for cool power amor and stuff

If I read it correctly, Storm’s problem was having nuclear missiles, not just nuclear weapons. Having to drop a bomb is far different from sending intercontinental missiles.

freefall bombs are considerably easier to stop than ICBMs and missiles

Exactly.

They also require much easier to shoot down delivery vehicles.

Btw unrelated but looking at the globe I realized Caeledia and Canis are really close. At least, much closer than I thought they were.

I wonder if Caeledia would even like Canis due to the fact its an ex colony.

Orion?
