(2) The official logo of the Coalition of the South Pacific consists of a white palm tree upon a black sail, with a white star in the lower left corner of the sail. The black sail surmounts a a South Pacific Blue circle, with a white ring surrounded by a thinner South Pacific Blue ring.

(2) The official logo of the Coalition of the South Pacific consists of a white spiral on a South Pacific Blue background, inside a white circle with a Tropical Orange border.

For years now we’ve used the spiral as our logo in various graphics. It’s even the image for our forums since the forum switch back in 2022. The old logo is no longer used and the spiral has ingrained itself in TSP culture.

This may be just me, but I have always interpreted the spiral as a symbol of the government itself and the black sail as a symbol of the region as a whole. In that way, I may support them being co-official, but would not support doing away with the sail logo.

While the spiral is most used by the government, the use of the spiral does extend to the region as a whole, such as in it’s use as the forum’s logo. Just because the government is the body that ends up using a regional logo the most does not make it the government’s logo specifically.
The old logo isn’t used anymore and doesn’t hold the same place in TSP graphics. Given the number of other spirals used to represent government and administration bodies which get more use than the old logo does, I don’t think it holds a place where it should remain as a regional logo enshrined in law. It will still always remain a part of official imagery as it is taken from the flag, but I don’t think it needs to exist as a logo enshrined in law separate from the flag.

i think i’m with heli on this one. i see them both as being important regional symbols, but i think the palm tree represents all of TSP. the spiral represents the government side.

Nope, Spiral for gov, the palm for the region, it’s historical (it’s like removing the two headed eagle of germany coat of arms,

I guess however that the spiral might be reserved to delegate office logo

The palm tree flag logo is inexorably linked with the history and identity of the South Pacific. I strongly oppose any attempts to remove it from our cultural laws.

I guess I am officially old since I had a moment of sadness when I saw the strikethrough on the original seal.

If we specifically want to make that the seal of the government then I am okay with that.
