2. Office of the Chair

(4) In the event that the Chair of the Assembly office is vacant, the senior-most Deputy Chair of the Assembly who does not already hold an Office of the Coalition, by order of appointment, shall become Chair of the Assembly. If there are no eligible Deputy Chairs, the Assembly shall select a new Chair of the Assembly as set forth by Article 2, Section 2, of this Act.

When Kringle CTE’d, I looked over the Chair succession process, and I realized that there was no process for selecting a new chair if there were no Deputy Chairs, which is currently the case. This amendment aims to fix this hole by instructing the Assembly to select a new Chair if there are no Deputy Chairs when the office of Chair becomes vacant.

I guess I’m not opposed to this sort of thing. It just puts in writing what the Assembly would do anyways.

I agree with Heli. I think this amendment is redundant but fine.

I don’t think it’s strictly needed, but if we insist, I would rather it say: “If there are no eligible Deputy Chairs, the Assembly shall select a new Chair of the Assembly as set forth by Article 2, Section 2, of this Act.”

That way, there is no ambiguity over “select” (even if we know it to be clear)
