Activity Check

Unlike last time, I didn’t think I’d have been on the list.
I have been making periodic edits to my wiki page to maintain my activity as lately it has been a dry period of creativity for me. And school started.

I intend on continuing roleplay, thats why I kept making edits. I believe I either misunderstood the prerequisites to maintain activity or they have been overlooked. Or the rules changed.

Anyway, I do intend on maintaining activity, when I’ll get some good ideas and time I’ll go back to big stuff.

I’m confused. Does “react to this topic as written above” not mean the people on the bottom list have the same instructions as those on the top list?

No, for the people from the second list it is sufficient to make a roleplay post (e.g. a post on PNN) whereas the people from the first list need to explain their planned contributions more. However if you are mentioned in the second list, you can also opt for such an explanation instead of doing a roleplay post.

I know I’ve been extremely dead lately sorry :downcast_face_with_sweat: I’ve just been sick is all. I do plan on coming back to RP pretty soon, I have been building Antarcha up quietly for when I do come back on days I could dedicate to stuff. think I need to revive FiHami at this point too :downcast_face_with_sweat::downcast_face_with_sweat::downcast_face_with_sweat:

No worries, we all have been kinda dead this year.

Dear Lord Gianni,

I sincerely apologize for my severe lacking in the department of activity, however as of now I have a lot of things going on irl. Aside from than I am currently undertaking a language reform which I hope will be more successful than when I tried making a new langage for Luzhnichka.

Thank you for your understanding,
Best regards,
New Plant (Luzhnichka)

From the Map of the South Pacific topic:

Why are applications closed for activity checks?

The timeframe of this activity check is almost a whole month, which on its own is an unacceptable length to close applications for. Given that activity checks are meant to be carried out quarterly, meaning this one month closure should be happening four times a year, that is incredibly ridiculous and entirely unacceptable. Leaving applications closed for a third of each year should not be happening.

Why is it that applications are closed altogether entirely? Why can’t the processing of applications submitted during this period simply be delayed until after the period is over and then addressed? New and returning members of TSP should not be forced to wait for a month long activity check to conclude before they are allowed to engage with Pacifica.

Normally an activity check should be performed once per quarter, as you pointed out correctly. Also they usually lasted two weeks at a time.

Due to the activity checks not having been conducted at all and the overall activity of the Pacifica canon as a whole being somewhat low this year, I’ve decided it would not be fair to only give a timeframe of two weeks for the activity check, just because I suddenly started having time now. The longer four week period is supposed to help newer and older roleplayers alike, who weren’t the most active this year and are in danger of losing plots, to notice the activity status is checked again, so they can find a timeframe to post something roleplay-related.

As for the application process being closed: This has been done during other activity checks as well. The sense being, that the map managers can focus on the nations checked for activity instead of having to process a potentially long list of map applications, and roleplayers not applying in advance for plots, that might become free after the check.

The criticism that this activity check would forbid people to engage in Pacifica is factually untrue. It has been said multiple times in the past, that you can be active in the Pacifica canon, even if your map application has not been processed yet.

EDIT: The last paragraph is not entirely factually true as I originally presumed. Please see my answer here.

Hello, I would like to say something related:

I understand that you can start roleplaying during the time you wait for your application be processed. Correct me if I am wrong, but shouldn’t you have a valid application posted in order to start roleplaying? Currently during activity checks, applications are automatically rejected, so new players cannot have an application existing in the first place. Wouldn’t that force the players to start their projects one or two weeks late?

Thank you.

After having read up on our resources as well again, you are correct and as such your criticism, new roleplayers couldn’t start their project when they are most motivated to do so, is valid.

Frankly from experience I would also say, that rule is not necessarily enforced and it doesn’t need to be since usually players don’t want to roleplay, but are hindered through an activity check, instead they apply for a plot and then never come back to the rp, even if the application is processed quite quickly.

I agree with you, one should probably discuss to change that rule, so we don’t have (normally) 8 weeks a year, where we couldn’t adopt new roleplayers into our Pacifica canon. Since we are currently once again looking for ways to promote the rp more, I’m sure the discussion can be held in somewhat due time.
