A Goalkeeper CIWS, similar in concept to a Serniani CIPDS System

Close In Proximity/Point Defense System (CIPDS) (Pronounced See-pds) is the catch all term for Interceptor or Point Defense Weapons on Serniani Vessels. These range from 50mm Flak Guns, to Laser Weapons designed to combat Missiles in their Sprint Phase. CIPDS also includes the radar systems needed to detect, lock and intercept, which can be helpful in a pinch if you are receiving a wall of fire and need to intercept.

"Cold" Launch

“Cold” Launch
Technical Meaning

A Cold Launch is where a missile is ejected out of the Launcher reorients towards the target/cruise points, before activating the main thruster. The Callsign for Cold Launches is “Camper.”

"Hot" Launch

“Hot” Launch
Technical Meaning

A Hot Launch is where a missile’s primary thruster is ignited in the launch tube, leading to it exiting quickly. The Callsign for Hot Launches is “Brawler.”

Missile Phases

Missile Phases
Technical Guide

Missile Phases are split into various phases. The first phase is call the Operational Programing Phase (OPP). This is where the missile is given instructions, like where it’s going, when to make a turn, when to activate decoys, when to activate validation measures, etc. The second is the boost phase, (BP), in which the missile exits the tube and begins heading towards the target. The third phase is called the scanning or sprint phase (SP). During the SP, the missile is heading towards the target and is actively “Sprinting” towards the target. The last phase is called the Impact Phase (IP). In the IP, the missile either hits the target, or misses, and attempts to come around again to hit the target or explodes after running out of fuel.

ECV

IFE

IFE
Acronym

IFE stands for Ion Force Engine. An Ion Force Engine maximizes efficiency, and Thrust to Weight Ratio. It might not be the fastest or most maneuverable engine in the sector, but makes up for modularity in being able to equip a battlecruiser or a starcraft with the same engine with a few minor adjustments.

RNDFV Conspirated Extractor (DDC-489), AiC

The RNDFV Conspirated Extractor sat in drydock before being moved out into open space. Hull Number 489, it’s the first ship commissioned for Directorate Naval Intelligence, and as it opens up into brightspace, it heads west, toward an unknown region of space, where a transponder was detected.

“How we lookin on Time to Trajectory?”

“Twelve Hours 'til on target.”

“Amazing, get the Landing Teams Briefed and Pilots prepped.”

“Aye Sir!”

Oliver and Casia are eating their food when the wail of

“ALCON, ALCON, Alert Pilots and Insertion Teams to Briefing and Staging Points.”

Pierces through their heads.

“Already? We’ve barely moved…”

“Not really, you slept really well, y’know?”

“Oli, be quiet. Let’s get movin’.”

“Yeah, yeah, let’s move.”

The pair sprint walk towards their briefing room, passing by their lockers, picking up their gear, before entering the briefing room.

“The transponders real faint, but it looks it’s abandoned. Tracing everything’s gonna be a nightmare, but thats why y’all are here. If we can’t trace the Admiral, we blow this place back to the Stone Age, and get out. All Teams move to staging points pronto.”

System II-2501 “Sout”

A newly colonized system belonging to the II Quadrant, considered a peripheral frontier system, but is administered as part of the Core Quadrant of Alvira. A new Docking Station is under construction in the orbits of the colonised third planet, Sout-Derde. It’s half-million inhabitants included Alvirans, Valtorans, and resident immigrants.

Alviran Patrol Fleet

A standardised fleet consisting of a Fighter Carrier Cruiser harboring 8 Dependent-Fighter Crafts, escorted by 8 Independent-Fighter Crafts.

“Intercepting signals from an unregistered interstellar vehicle, ma’am,” the young officer explained her reasons to Commander Junge.

The Commander was talking with the new Stellar-Governor of Sout, Governor Liebstein, giving him a tour of the unfinished docking station when the young officer interrupted them.

“Pirates?" asked the new Governor with a noticeable fear. The Governor was a career bureaucrat from Bloudia, and never ventured outside the Core Planets, as far as Commander Junge’s knowledge.

“We can’t confirm that as of yet, Sir. But the ship doesn’t have a registration beacon, and it does not appear in the designated hyper-escape coordinate,” answered the young officer.

“But if it’s a pirate ship, your fleet can deal with them, right, Commander?” asked the Governor.

“Pirates always came with registration beacons to mask their entry, and only ditch them when they have already finished their job, avoiding trackers,” commented Commander Junge. “It could be just a damaged ship, losing its signal beacon. What type of ship are we dealing here, officer?”

“We don’t know, Sir. The data given back by our deep-space scanner is incongruent with anything in the universal database. It also generated radio frequencies, but we cannot capture any information from it,” answered the officer. “I don’t like the sound of that,” commented the Governor. Commander Junge hesitated for a moment, analysing the situation.

“Whatever it is, I want them gone, Commander. I can’t have a pirate raid in the first week of my tenure!” stated the Governor.

The Commander then turned to the Station Lieutenant, “Put the station and my patrol fleet on alert! Flash that ship a warning signal, and order them to identify themselves,”

“Getting Signals.”

“Sapient Species, how we want to run this?”

“How are our engines looking?”

“Good on all thrusters.”

“Flank Ahead, and get a bead on that transponder beacon.”

“Roger that, how do we want to deal with the incoming messages?”

“Maintain Multispec Silence. and get the strike package ready.”

“Falsefade?”

“Actually, no. We forgot to use it to mask our entry, it’ll only light us up on every single HoJ Missileer’s station.”

“Alright.”

“Transponder Ident confirmed. On the planet. Notifying Insertion Package. Should we launch additional fighters incase they intercept ours?”

“Yessir.”

“Well, the Fighting Phoenix Pilots always have guts.”

“I mean, Daggers are only SAS, so they really are only useful for in atmospheric operations.”

“Well, the Railgun always puts on a good show.”

The RCL Springs to life, ejecting the first two SSF-294s “Fighting Phoenixes,” followed by the rest of the squadron, followed by a squadron of SSF-409 “Daggers,” followed by the first a composite squadron of sixteen PAG-192 “Scimitar” and eight PAG-232 “Shortbow.”

“Yeah, it gives them time to power up emergency Ox.”

“Detecting multiple launches from the unidentified craft, Ma’am, possibly fighter-class crafts,” the Station Lieutenant reported to Commander Junge. “Are they armed?” asked the Commander. “Are they armed?! Commander, those are fighters! Shoot them, or something!” the Governor commanded.

“Put the station in battle mode and maximise our deflector shields! Ra’gast, launch all of our fighters in the holds, I want a tighter defensive perimeter around the station!” alarms rang across the unfinished station, as sounds of fighters ejecting from their holding bays before forming defensive perimeters around the station filled the already tense situation.

“You’re going to do nothing? They’re attacking!” protested the dishevelled Governor. “They haven’t done anything aggressive yet, Governor, and as keeper of peace, it’s our job to remain level headed in these kinds of situations,” the Commander responded with a little hint of irritation. The Governor seemed dissatisfied, but chose to sit down and watch as the control room went busy executing the Commander’s orders.

“Coms! Where’s coms?! Lauren, I want you to send a distress signal to Rear-Admiral Hendrik of the 71st Fleet! If anything should happen to us, their overwhelming number should easily deal with this. And keep sending our demand to them!”

“Jansens, bring your group and approach them! Give them warning shots if they went any nearer. We’ll stick to the protocol until either they stop provoking and answer our signals, or when they attack,” the Commander spoke to his interface.

“They outnumbered us, Ma’am. I don’t think aggressive posturing is advisable,” Captain Jansens replied through the Hypercom network. “Just aim near them using low-charged plasma, and retreat back!”

“Governor, I need you to tell the terrestrials that they need to put high alert on unidentified crafts posturing potentially major threats to their security.”

“Are they arming anything?”

“No Visual on any SS/AM assets.”

“No Visual, they might be rolling it out.”

“Should we respond?”

“What?”

“They keep sending the same damn message.”

“Sara, your call.”

“You’re deferring to me?!”

“That’s affirmative.”

“Oh-Oh Uh…”

She switches on her universal translator, fumbling with the controls before continuing looking at a script hastily written in her cockpit

“Ahem… Right. This is a message representing the combat starcraft in the space of Alvira to all concerned. We are engaged in a capture/kill mission, assigned so by Directorate Naval Intelligence. The Scientific Directorate of Rosecordia has no quarrel, I repeat, no quarrel, with Alvira, or its own security forces.”

“We therefore ask you not to intervene or oppose our extraction.”

“However, we are under orders to engage any Alviran units who do not comply with this request and move to attack our craft. Does anyone copy this communique?”

She flips off the universal translator

“You wrote all of that?”

“No, I stole the script from a game, and changed the names, and edited it a little bit.”

“Why am I not surprised?”

“You shouldn’t.”

“Technically, they took it from the speech the Vigilant Watch did to uhh… Sahiria?”

“Yeah, but I did a speech based on the game’s version.”

“Any linguistics among us want to make it known what language they were speaking? AiC Xeno Linguistics, you have the floor.”

“According to information, it appears to be a version of Afrikaans. This is all SIGINT, so they might be speaking something else, I’ll figure more out when we get out of here.”

“Oh, cool.”

“LZ Stellar is no good. Moving to Mono. No enemy fire as of current, be advised landing might be cold. Civilian Traffic is still a factor.”

“LZ Nebula is clear. Make sure civilian traffic is moved out of the way, and flip your uni translators to… Varianted Afrikaans.”

“Should we call our Hempens in?”

“Yeah, get them moving. They take forever.”

“Four O Nines, designate a LZ for our Hempens.”

“Wilco, looking for an LZ now.”

“Commander Junge?” Captain Jansens asked through his intercom. The Station went silent, and all fighters stopped in their track when the Hypercom received message from the opposing side.

“Rosecordia? Any information on Rosecordia?” Commander Junge asked. “We don’t have access to the Galactyan transfer updated database yet, Ma’am, some red tape issues, but I’ve heard that it is a real place somewhere in the sector, from one of my colleague,” one of the officer answered. The Governor nodded. “Some rapscallion young bureaucrats won’t let us access to it. Our colony is too small, they said.”

“Commander, should we commence with the warning shots?” Captain Jansens asked again with more urgency.

Commander Junge hesitated for a moment. “No. This is a First Contact Protocol now, and they clearly has superior weaponry. Everyone, we’re enacting Defense Protocol MMCCL/1399/001. Governor, if you may, tell the Terrestrials to oblige with the protocol, remain steady and maintain high alert, but lower our shield and weapons. Jansens, maintain your position but do not engage!”

“Lauren, give them this message: We are complying with First Contact Protocol, Defense Protocol MMCCL/1399/001. As a gesture of good will, we will provide you with terrestrial map of this planetary body, in exchange of partial or full information of your errands in Alviran Territory, and your willingness to engage in further diplomatic conversation after your errands are dealt in earnest. With complement, Commander Junge of the II-2501-1st Patrol Fleet.”

“Oh, give them my name as well, Lauren!” added the Governor to Commander Junge’s irritation. “Update Rear-Admiral Hendrik with our current situation as well. Let’s diffuse the tension, for now.”

“Got it.”

Casia turns to Oliver, who’s still holding the non lethal weapon, slowly puts it away

“Oli?”

“Yeah?”

“You did good, first time being a petty officer. Remember to take the initative next time.”

“Lighten up, Entry team torch the place for information.”

–Twenty Five Minutes later–

“Entry team, that’s all. Crowd Control, Entry, and backup are departing planetside. Shortbows, clear to torch.”

“All clear, all clear.”

“Gunner, on the way!”

The shortbows opened up on the apartment complex, destroying it completely as the Scimitars left the ground. The Daggers followed in escort, and Fighting Phoenixes began pulling away for recovery. As quickly as it began, it fell quiet again, the sound of Space Superiority & Space Air Superiority landing on the carrier.

“By golly, they’d blasted that building off!” the Governor shouted from his seat, still watching the life Hypercom connection with the Terrestrial Guards. “Governor, any civilian casualties?” Commander Junge asked in exasperation. “None, but that building! It’s just evaporated like that!”

“This is an attack, Commander! We can’t just stand still here,” Captain Jansens’ angered voice came from another Hypercom connection. “Gentlemen, we need to keep our heads cool! No civilians were hurt. Besides, this is a milestone! A first contact, right here in this backwater System!” the Governor seemed much more in the mood than a couple minutes ago.

“How’s Rear-Admiral Hendrik? Where is he?” asked the Commander. “He’s on his way. Should we gave him updates about what happened here?” the Comms officer asked. “Yes, go on. But told him there were no casualties.”

“Ma’am, what about those Rosecordians? What should we told them?”

“Ask them for reparations, and justice too. We’ve been attacked!” said Captain Jansens through the Comms. “Nonsense! That would be a breach of protocol. That building worth less than whatever damage we would’ve done by making such insult!” the Governor protested. Commander Junge hesitated for a while. “Jansens, pull back the fighters!”

“Commander, what?” Captain Jansens asked. “The Governor’s right. Comms, tell them that we don’t have the capacity or authority to send an envoy with them right now. But we can expect them to meet Rear-Admiral Hendrik in due time, after they finished with whatever they want to do. We will be waiting for a diplomatic response here, the time’s at their discretion.”

“See, It worked out in the end,” the Governor smiled. Captain Jansens, who just joined the bridge frowned.

“Ma’am, Admiral Hendriks has came out of Hyperspace. He’s requesting a Hypernet connection,” the Comms Officer reported. Commander Junge nodded. A few moments later, the elderly Admiral’s face is on the display.

“Well, Commander, you seemed to handle things here swimmingly, despite some hiccups,” complimented Rear-Admiral Hendriks. “Governor Liebstein, looks like your system will witness a historic moment.” The Governor nodded with pride.

“So how we will handle this, Sir? I presume you are the one to meet with them. You’re the highest ranking officer in the system now,” asked Commander Junge.

The Admiral nodded. “I’ll take care of everything for now. Inform them of my arrival. I sure hope they are reasonable. See you all very soon”

“I’m sure they can be reasoned with, Admiral. May i request my attendance in the meeting, then?” asked the Governor. The Admiral nodded before Hypercom connection ended. Commander Junge rolled her eyes before turning to the rest of the bridge. “You heard the old man. Let’s prepare the station for dockings.”

To the Rosecordi delegates. We are glad for your initiative. We have received higher authority from our incoming Rear-Admiral Hendriks. The Admiral requests a meeting with your diplomatic contingent to be held within our station. Rest assured that we are continuing our First-Contact Protocol and will keep all of our defense system in low status.
