Across the Strait - President Trenton's State Visit to Jazeera

Peter Trenton fastened his seatbelt as the Transport Plane began its descent. The journey has not been exactly comfortable, but the airmen of the plane have tried their best to accommodate him and his entourage, installing comfortable seats and heaps of utilities in the fuselage. Next to him, the Trade Minister Markus Long had been as pale as a birch tree throughout the flight, straining himself to keep his concentration. Flying hadn’t been the Minister’s preferred way of travel. Nor did sailing, as the President remembered the Minister’s horrible sea sickness during their travel to Cinis a year ago. An ironic tragedy for a Livanan islander.

Throughout these last ten years, President Trenton had always thought of getting the Citadel a decent business jet for official travels. But his advisors were all in agreement that the public outcry from buying one would’ve been insufferable. Even his previous and current PMs both agreed that it would harm him more than it’ll help the government conducting businesses. Thus, every Livanan President had always used the Air Force’s transport planes for state travels abroad.

As the plane descended below the clouds, the President could see the glimmering light of the Mediterranean sea. “Hang in there, Markus, we’re landing,” the President told the Minister who answered with an exhausted nod.

Emir Abdullah I International Airport, Al-Husseini

In the airstrip, the Emir of Jazeera, Muhammad II, alongside the Prime Minister Hussein Hamza and the Minister for Foreign Affairs Abdullah Khalidi, awaits the arrival of their visitors from across the strait.

Muhammad II had requested for the government to prepare a proper welcome for their Livanan guests. This included the Emiri Guards Regiment, the royal/honor guard unit of the Emiri Armed Forces, which also includes the Emiri Guards Military Band. Crowds gathered around, waving flags of Jazeera and Livana.

As the Transport Plane arrives and the doors opened, the Emiri Guards Military Band began playing Victoria Martii. Flags of both country were waved by crowds cheering President Trenton and Minister Long. The Emir, Prime Minister, and Foreign Minister approached the two, somewhat exhausted guests.

مرحباً بكم في جزيرة”, the Emir said, “Welcome to Jazeera”

The President waved his hands to the gathering crowds and the welcoming procession as he descended the plane, followed along by the Foreign Minister, followed by an interpreter and a couple of aides. The view of the airport was certainly breathtaking, certainly much spacious and grander than Livonia’s own International Airport.

“Thank you for your warm greetings, Your Majesty. It certainly is a great honor to finally meet you in person,” President Trenton extended his hand for a handshake. “Oh, as you might already know, this is our Minister of Foreign Affairs, Markus Long.”

“It’s tremendous honor, Your Majesty,” Minister Long tapped his forehead with a handkerchief before bowing his head.

“It is a great pleasure to meet you to, Prime Minister Hamza. I’ve been looking forward to visit our closest neighbor, and we sincerely hope it will be a good and productive talk,” the President turned to the Prime Minister of Jazeera.

The President and Minister Long proceeded to greet the welcoming entourage one by one.
