Random question: If you had to go with a different idea for a star nation, what would you do?
Mine would essentially be Rogue Servitors from Stellaris, an AI nation built upon the protection of biological life. They would not be pleased with exterminators and warmongers but would be extremely willing to buy (and subsequently release into relative paradise) slaves. War against organics would be avoided in general (which is why they wouldn’t be crusading slave empires) and peaceful assimilation would be the goal

Off the top of my head, there are multiple ways I could answer this
The first way is do the choice I passed over for the bugs and make a nation of warrior lizard people run by a military dictatorship
The second way would be to make Colonus purely Krim and focus more on them and the relationship with BrightSpace
The third way would be to do the extra-canon idea of a bunch of space maggots that must feed on space leviathans to survive

Alternative timeline where Ssca wins the Third Ssca War. Rehy dose not exist and Ssca rules a lot of space with there lil gene modding, theocratic, autocracy.
A human technocracy, possibly exiles from another galaxy/universe. Basically the guys that caused Enver to be xenophobic.

Anyways, mine would be a metaempire of isolationist AIs, Hyperturings and Archailects with little to no regard for bionts or vecs (or the real world in general). They would develop their systems with computronium megastructures of all kinds, that would host quintillions of virtuals.
Alternatively, I’d always be going with a much more isolated nation, but instead revolving around a single, massively developed multiple star system with six component stars.
