Rear Admiral James Varson, a native of Starton and a Member of the Extended Royal Family, sat in his office, reading through various reports, just another standard day in the Imperial 4th Fleet.

(James)“Sigh Man I wish something would happen, reading reports is exceptionally boring, but still safer than the Occupied Territories, but even then… Dammit Mother, why did you have to assign me here of all places?”

It was not unusual for many Officers to be related to each other, less so for Parents and their children. Jame’s Mother, the Duchess Of Nyvari, and Imperial Grand Admiral, a Rank she had worked hard to get, as was the norm for Imperial Flag Officers, had, following his promotion to Rear Admiral, placed her Second, most beloved Son in charge of the 4th Imperial Fleet around Hawk. It made him irritated, he understood why she placed him here rather than the Dangerous Occupied Territories, but he Signed up with the intention of seeing action, not sitting on his ass all day on a Jylland Class Battleship. His thoughts were interrupted by his Comms Officer.

(CMO)“Sir, an Unidentified Fleet has Jumped into System, we don’t recognize any of the Designs, but they currently aren’t attacking. As is stated by protocol, we need you on the Bridge, sir.”

(James)“Of course, now things get interesting, I’m on my lay Lt.”

James made his way to the bridge, sitting down in the Command Chair.

(James)“Comms, Open a Comms channel with that Fleet, Priority 1. Tactical, set us to Yellow Alert.”

(CMO)“Opening Comms Channel, PR 1 Aye”

(Tactical)“Setting us to Yellow Alert Aye”

(CMO)“Channel Open Admiral”

(James)“Okay, Attention Unknown Fleet, this is Rear Admiral James Varson, Commanding Officer of the HIMS(His Imperial Majesties Ship) Colradia BB-24. You are trespassing in Imperial Territory. If you do not respond within the hour, you shall be considered a Hostile and will be fired upon.”

Due to Security Precautions, you will have to remain unarmed during the Meeting. Since you seem to be a fellow Humanoid Species, the Atmosphere Mixture of our station should suit your kind yes?”

Everyone on the bridge seemed relieved that the Unknown Aliens were Humanoid’s, No One wanted another war, especially when Pacification of the Occupied Territories were far from Complete.

“While we may be similar to humans, we are different in a multitude of different ways, one of which is oxygen percentages, which is 5% of what a normal human has.”

Chihiro pauses before continuing

“We usually provide our masks for filtering oxygen, it’s no worries though. We’ll be there shortly.”

“Transmission cut.”

“Hikari, this is kind of exciting! Humans! This close to the Line!”

“It’s exciting yeah, but its also kinda odd. Someone should add “Why are humans everywhere” to the research queries.”

“Fair enough. Tell Isabella she’s in charge. Helmsman, initial scans of system good?”

“I mean, it’s usable. We’ll probably be at the planet’s station within the hour.”

“Chihiro, you sure it’ll be safe?”

“I’m not worried. I politely asked for a Transmat System to be installed here.”

“Huh. Nice. Aren’t they becoming commonplace now?”

“Oh yeah, but it was between the Erina’s Lance and another carrier, we took priority because we are on active exploration.”

“Identified the station. Helm here, we clear to get moving?”

“Helmsmans all ahead, lets get to the station. We’ve got a meeting to catch. Bring the fleet with us.”

James breathes a huge sigh of relief, and begins issuing out orders.

(James)“Helm, set course for Streams Memorial Station. Comms, inform them of our arrival and our guests, send a coded transmission to Starton and inform the War Council, and ensure the System Fleet is ready for anything, Yellow Alert should be fine. With all that said, I’ll be in my Quarters getting ready for this meeting. Glory To The Empire!”

James was waiting patiently in the hanger with a small detachment of Marines to act as security. He sees the small flash of light.

(James)“Well, would you look at that, it seems were not the only ones to use Teleportation Tech, although, they’ve seem to be ahead of us, we’re still stuck only transporting cargo.”

He was speaking to the Station Commander, Capt. Victoria Rilov, a Native of Hawk. She nodded at the Rear Admiral’s statement. The Rear Admiral walked up to Chihiro, followed by the Station Commander and the Marine Security Detail.

(James)“Welcome to Streams Memorial Station, I’m Rear Admiral James Varson, CO of HIMS Colradia, and Overall Commander of Imperial Naval Forces in this System. This is Captain Victoria Rilov, she’s the CO of this Station. And you would be?”

(James)“Well, Fleet Commander, that’s because the Average height of our people is about 6’4, 6’5 if your lucky, for Males, and about 5’8 for Females. I would advise to watch you head around here, this place wasn’t exactly designed with heights exceeding seven feet in mind. Now, if you shall follow me to the Conference Room… Maker Above, what is it Ilnor?”

Before the group began to walk towards the hallway, James was approached by a Man with Pointed Ears, a Vulkan/Vulcarian, with a report that he needed to see.

(Ensign Ilnor Vulsen)“Sir, you need to see this report, its going to all system commanders in the North, Orders came from Grand Admiral Varson herself.”

James grabbed the Holopad the Vulkan was holding.

(James)“I’ll look at it in a bit, but if you haven’t noticed, we have some… visitors.”

James pointed to Chihiro, Ilnor waved to her.

(Ilnor)“I see, I’ll keep monitoring for anymore reports, Glory To The Empire”

(James)"Glory To The Empire, Alright people, with that over with, lets head to the Conference Room.

(James)“That was Ensign Ilnor Vulsen, a Vulkan… although I guess the Empire calls them Vulcarian officially. His species are a ‘brother’ Species, aka, a Species that shares traits with Humans. The Empire conquered his people almost 150 years ago, a general program to integrate his people into the Empire has gone on ever since. As for the reports, I already have a pretty good idea what they’re about. 3 Weeks ago, the HIMS Freedom, a Liberty Class Corvette, was hijacked and stolen by Chr’Kahr Laborers. It’s been missing ever since, and I imagine this report is about it, although whether its good or bad is yet to be seen.”

The group walk into the Conference and take their seats.

(James)“So, this Meeting will be about Relations between our two states, trade, tech, etc. In about 30 minutes, we’ll be getting a Virtual Call from His Majesty, an Honor to be sure. After that, we’ll discuss what to do from here regarding your fleet.”

The Erina’s Lance Hangar Bay is a tense, busy place. Parts, ordnance and other items are being loaded onto the starcraft, the sound of engines whirring and the clicks of Hermetic Seals finally closing up as the lights in the Hangar Bay turn off and are replaced with a light blue as Pilots and Crew scramble around. Kasumi Kiko is one of many pilots who are rushing to their SSF-308 “Savant” Space Superiority Fighter. By the time she’s at her Savant, the Scramble Ready Starcraft are already at the EMAG.

“NOAOA here, at the pilot’s seat, Savant. Any EMAG is fine.”

“NOAOA, Space Control, EMAG Three, scrambling.”

“NOAOA, EMAG Three, scrambling…”

The hangar is abuzz with activity as the ship is actively pushed starboard and port from EMAG Launches.

“NOAOA, EMAG Three, tossing my Ace Eight, put me through.”

“NOAOA, Space Control, cleared Ace Eight.”

Kasumi braces as she is shot out of the EMAG Launcher into the void.

“NOAOA here, Starcraft from my flight form up for standard patrol routes, keep your RCS hot for intercepts, and keep the reaction wheels turning.”

*NOAOA is pronounced like “Noa”

*Tossing in an Ace Eight during scramble has dual meaning. It means that you are scrambling, but it also means you have a will signed. If you don’t you’d say you were “Ace Flushed”

(James)“So, I believe the best place to start is probably some background regarding our two states. The Empire was founded about 450 years, give or take, by a group of eight colony ships of what Remained of the Starhawk Pact, sent out from a slowly dying Pacifica, Humanity’s long lost home world, it’s likely its either destroyed or completely uninhabitable. The first step the Colonists did was establish themselves on the world they had found, the current capital as a matter of fact, Starton. Over the next 300 years, the Empire slowly expanded, finding and settling various worlds. However, come 2402, the Empire stumbled upon two alien species, the rather peaceful, if rather uptight, Vulkans, and the Warmongering Brutes, the Chr’Kahr. The Empire, under Emperor Joshua IX, declared war on these two states, for Pride, Resources, and more importantly, using the Chr’Kahr as laborers. The Vulkans didn’t last long, they fell to the Imperial Armed Forces in under a year, while the Chr’Kahr, lasted far longer then the Imperial Military wished. Eventually, the Chr’Kahr finally fell when their last outpost was destroyed by a Phalanx Laser Bombardment, this being the first time said weapon would be used, thus killing the Chr’Kahr leadership. Today, almost 150 years later, both of their former states are under Occupation, although there are plans to finally lift the Vulkan Occupation Zone and integrate it into the Empire. However, the Chr’Kahr Zone is still a dangerous place, with near constant attacks on Civilian and Military Targets. Thankfully, under Emperor Edward V, we have abandoned the doctrine of invading Xeno states for resources and labor, no one wants another Chicaria. So that’s the Empires history, although very much condensed down, Any Questions?”
