Homework isn’t hard tho I can just get it all done in an hour at most. Or just not do it
Qaz, from various discussions I’ve seen, you are very set in your own experience, even when that experience is far from universal. While I’ve certainly had teachers that gave out homework over weekends and breaks, I’ve also had many teachers that didn’t, and also teachers that didn’t give out homework at all. Given Zhuang’s activity in TSP from what I’ve seen, the amount of free time he’s able to contribute to NS is not something I’m concerned about. You have no information about his life or schedule other than what he shares. While it is your right to vote how you decide, it is not your job or your place to be enforcing assumptions you have made about people’s irl lives here. This is a game, not your classroom.
I’m sure if the Chair had a problem with it, the Chair would say so.
I don’t understand, are you saying that your line of questioning can’t be challenged by anyone other than the Chair?
I’d call it a little more than challenged, I’m not being asked to elaborate or clarify on anything, I am essentially being told to shut up and I’m afraid if you think I am going to, you are talking to the wrong person. Fair dues if you approach reasonably, but they haven’t.
No one is telling you to shut up, but no one has to take your views as gospel either. If someone finds something you say objectionable then, this being a democracy, they have the right to challenge it openly. This is a mock legislature for an online game, not a formal debate society where everything needs to have a well-structured counterargument.
They are directly talking to me and it’s in a manner which is antagonistic and I am not comfortable with it and if I choose to only respond with that line, I am both inviting the Chair to intervene and doing so because the alternative will be to argue back, spend ages doing so and for what? So that literally no-one takes it seriously or reads it. This is beyond my tolerance, I am afraid, and if it continues, I will be writing to the Chair about it.
I definitely invite the Chair to consider the matter, but my impression is they’d agree that no one is being antagonistic toward you.
Whatever you say. Zhuang has been contacted, rather than the Chair. Whether they respond is up to them. I laid out everything the way I meant it. I would much appreciate if people in this region stopped reading what I have said too far on little or no basis at all.
Kringle’s impression is correct. As the Assembly is aware, I have not hesitated to intervene in the past when debates have descended into inappropriate and irrelevant personal attacks. Nothing in this discussion has approached that level as far as I am concerned. If anything, I would caution against overzealous prying into individuals’ OOC lives as part of IC government decision-making.
I move the appointments of Vrigny and Zhuang to a vote.
I second the motion to vote
We are now at vote!
While this is already at vote… I would like to ask that members of the Assembly not motion and second active debate. While the more recent debate did deviate from the intended topic to an extent, the last germane and substantive post is less than 12 hours old.
While it is well within each legislator’s authority (and the Chair’s) to make motions/seconds (and initiate votes) I would rather not see it prematurely result in the end of debate.
Of course, I am but one legislator, but that is my two cents
I know these candidates are already at vote. I apologize that because of both RL and other NS responsibilities, I hadn’t really gotten around to asking much here. I hope it is not against assembly policy for me to still ask?
Zhuanghwei, in general I think you are perfectly competent for MoC. I do have one concern and it is this:
I think, mostly, that your duties as MoC specifically can be done without Discord, or rather with a surrogate deputy posting things in Discord for you.
I’m somewhat concerned, though, that you will be unable to participate in your duties as a general member of the cabinet. Discord is the primary way Cabinet members communicate to each other to coordinate but also advise the PM as a group when he asks for it. It’s also the way that much of the communication with other sections of the government is held. What is your strategy for staying in the loop and contributing to the cabinet-wide discussions in ways that you may not have someone stand in your stead?
I will make use of the Cabinet forum threads and official government telegram channels for anything requiring my attention. For broader discussions, I’ll ensure that my positions and feedback are posted in the appropriate threads so I’m consistently part of the conversation.
For any time-sensitive decisions, I’ll coordinate with the PM and relevant Cabinet members in advance so that my responses are delivered on schedule. This will prevent delays even if I can’t engage in live Discord chats.
