[2531.AP] Adding Notifications back to Citizenship Applications

Look i know we just got rid of this but I think we made a mistake.
When new nations join our forums and apply for citizenship, most likely, they won’t log on every day to check if they have been accepted.

Thats why we should bring back the telegrams! Heck, they only take like 45 seconds to write.
Not only that it’s more exciting that way. Clicking the spoiler and seeing if you’ve become a citizen of the best region on the website.
So yeah. Bring em back

Regardless of how I personally feel about removing notifications, I think it’s likely a bad precedent to immediately redebate something the assembly has just decided upon without a sudden and significant change of circumstances.

I do agree with you, that would be a bad precedent, but I wouldn’t say “immediately”. It’s been about 4ish months.

Hmm, seems like I wasn’t a legislator when the tgs were removed…

Citizenship applications these days take quite some time to process for some reason. There are people who don’t participate in other threads and apply just because they want to participate in these stuff. I think that there is no reason for them to visit the forums every single day for weeks just to check if they were accepted yet.

Also, I think I remember recently seeing somebody waiting for like two months.

Realistically, we need to have a broader conversation with actual follow-through on how we handle citizenship applications, since this has been a persistent issue for years now.

Expanding citcom might help

I insist that expanding CitComm doesn’t address the issue of why CitComm keeps having a backlog in the first place. I know they have said that processing applications isn’t that complicated but something has to be happening for them to struggle with processing them as swiftly as is needed.

Maybe their busy irl

All of CitComm has been busy IRL for the past like…nine years then.

I don’t disagree with you that telegrams/outreach to new citizens would be a good thing – however, I don’t think it is reasonable to make it a part of the responsibilities of CitComm when they’re already overburdened. If anything, I think “TGing and reaching out to new citizens” would be an interesting Integration initiative for the PM+Cabinet. Then, the new player feels welcomed, is introduced to a point of contact/friend, and can ask them questions – all of which goes beyond the templated “hi you’re a citizen now” telegram that you’re advocating for.

We all know that kind of 1-on-1 outreach is the most effective way to get new players involved in the region, but the solution you’re advocating for doesn’t really accomplish that, it only burns out an already overworked team.
