What is your opinion on things like my CYOA? Do you think events and projects of this nature are worth pursuing for your ministry? If so, what kind of forum projects would you pursue, and what methods would you use to gain engagement for them?
You are a rare opportuinity, a MoC who is both a prominent gamesider and roleplayer in the TSPRP canons. How, if it is in your plans, do you plan on bridging the gap between the MoC and the TSPRP community? Do you think that this is necessary or beneficial for either party?
For your Knowhere project: How do you plan on differentiating this project from Pacifica in any significant way? Do you feel it will take away from potential recruitment for Pacifica? Will it be more or less structured? What will the map claim system be- will it have plots, or be freeform like TEPās Urth? Will there be moving borders, etc?
Chair of the Assembly Statement from the Chair on the debate period for Prime Minister-elect lordnwahs Cabinet Appointments
After careful consideration and discussion between myself and our Deputy Chair @Welly, it has come to our attention that whilst lordnwahs has been duly elected Prime Minister, they have not yet assumed office, as such they do not possess the power to appoint people to the Cabinet of the South Pacific, to avoid any confusion the Chair notifies all legislators that the earliest these appointments could go to a vote would be 2024-08-04T14:00:00Z, this is considering the fact, that Prime Minister-elect lordnwahs is due to assume office on 2024-08-01T14:00:00Z, pursuant to this post here, as such, the debate period on these threads starts from the date above.
Yours faithfully, BlockBuster2K43, Chair of the Assembly
Is it the view of the Chair that the appointments under Hennās terms were allowed to go to vote earlier because he was the incumbent PM at that point?
To me personally it is, as Henn was already Prime Minister, and was simply re-elected, he at that point in time had the power to change his Cabinetās makeup and hadnāt left the office of the Prime Minister. Whilst I wish it wasnāt this way, and I do indeed acknowledge that this will be an inconvenience. I hope all can understand my stance on this.
Yes, it is pretty much the Ministry of Media. However, media is simply the platform used by the ministry to connect to the people, and it will be our primary focus as it allows us to easily educate residents. And we can use it to engage them in a vast array of content that residents can understand and connect with. It can be informational, entertaining and interesting. Therefore, making it engage. The answer to your question, yes, the Ministry of Engagement will act as the Ministry of Media, but its function is to engage with the residents not simply supply them with āmediaā but rather involve them in it.
Iād argue thereās no harm in getting it done like this too. Every new cabinet has that initial enthusiasm and momentum and I donāt see a problem with getting them into the positions they need to make their things happen.
Either we wait extra time, or we donāt. Iām a big fan of not wasting time when we could be getting stuff done thatās laid out in campaigns and appointment topics, and Iām sure our allies would appreciate that too.
Except no one is holding a gun to their heads preventing them from doing without a formal title. Unless the Prime Minister and their ministers somehow intend to not do anything until they are confirmed?
Of course thatās not the intent ā plenty can be done even before the cabinet formally gets in, and my team will hit the ground running from Day 1 where possible. But there is some infrastructure, legal (e.g. Regional Officers Act) and institutional (access to parts of Cabinet subforum and some Discord channels) that require us to get the ministers appointed in before we can utilize it.
Iām absolutely opposed to establishing a precedent that a person of this region can act in official or semi-official capacities without the approval of the legislature or the security apparatus where defined. The confirmation process exists because we want the peopleās input on those appointments, not because we are so deferential to one figure that we forgo the #1 check on their power.
If you did under the auspicies as Appointed-Yet-Not-Confirmed Minister of Culture, yes. Actions of private citizens arenāt the governmentās actions.
So you can run an event as a resident, you can run an event as a Minister, but you canāt run an event if youāre nominated for the Cabinet but havenāt been appointed yet?
Charter V(2)a states that Cabinet members must be confirmed āprior to entering office.ā Can the Assembly vote on whether to confirm these nominations now, and then the Prime Minister can appoint the already-confirmed ministers once they assume office?
That strikes me as a pretty tortured reading of the text. After all, what is the Assembly voting to confirm? An appointment. So it would seem that a lawful appointment must be made before any vote can be held to confirm an appointment.
