I will ensure cabinet applications are fair by having a clear and consistent evaluation process. Each application will be judged based on a few key factors, such as relevant experience, understanding of the ministry, activity level, and overall willingness to contribute. At the same time, I do not want the system to favor only experienced members. While experience will matter for higher-stakes roles like Foreign Affairs or Defense, I am open to newer applicants for other positions, especially roles like secretaries or deputies.
I’ll be directing the same questions to all PM candidates.
In the course of Assembly debates regarding the next Chair, the idea has been raised that the government should or could have an affirmative legislative agenda, akin to what we see in many RL parliamentary democracies. Which raises three questions:
(1) Do you believe that the TSP executive should have an affirmative legislative agenda, and why / why not?
(2) Will your government be pursuing a legislative agenda if elected Prime Minister?
(3) If so, what are your legislative priorities?
Thanks for the questions Welly!
(1) I think the executive can have an affirmative legislative agenda, but it shouldn’t be too heavy-handed. TSP isn’t really built like a typical parliamentary system, and the Assembly being independent is important. The government can still play a role in pointing out issues, suggesting improvements, and helping move things along when needed, but it shouldn’t be trying to dominate the legislative process.
(2) I don’t plan on coming in with a big or constant legislative agenda. My main focus is on culture, integration, and overall activity. That said, if something clearly needs to be fixed or improved, I’m open to working with the Assembly to get it done. I think I should treat the Assembly as a separate independent government institution/legislative tool and not a part of my campaign or a part of my cabinet.
Essentially, I think the role that the cabinet would play in the Assembly shouldn’t be much different than how a normal legislator would.
Same message for PM elections thread and Discord:
I’m announcing that I’m pulling out of the PM elections because of the passing away of my cat of 4 years. I need some time to grief this loss and get my thoughts together. I don’t even know if I can cancel out at this point, but I’m just letting you guys know.
Thank you guys for the good times. I had fun in this election. And thank you HS for hosting the debate yesterday. ![]()
I’m sorry for your loss—I liked the campaign you put together and thought you raised some good ideas that I hope the eventual winner incorporates.
Take care.
