Midway Island Crisis; TSPRP Longstory Roleplay

It had been a long day at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and as Minister Harris Trounce heard the door to his office open, he knew it was about to get longer.
“Minister Trounce, how goes things in my Ministry?” It was Lon, the eel sucker in the flesh. Harry let out a sigh and turned to face his boss. He wished he’d brought the bottle back in with him, he could use another swig right about now.
“As well as it can, considering we’re understaffed, underfunded, and generally unprepared to recognize that there’s other nations in the region, but other than that? Things went surprisingly well.”
“Good, good…” Lon said dismissively, moving to the window. “I’ve heard the updates on the news, I figured I’d drop by and hear them from you.”
“Well, things went better than I could have expected, which isn’t exactly high praise. We were able to establish a line of communication, but due to that aforementioned understaffing, we can’t actually talk to the men up north. As for those reporters and locals who first found the base, they check out. It seems that their info is credible. As for our signature statement of neutrality, it worked like a charm. Only problem is, a neutral party isn’t what people want right now. We need to take a stance, Mr. Prime Minister, we need to give people something to actually rally behind.” Lon turned to face Harry once again, leaning against the bay.
“Checks out. That info is in a vacuum though, how about everything else that’s happened.”
“Well, there’s been plays to gain influence in the ICC already, several unsuccessful attempts to condemn the Frost Empire that only served to strengthen their hand. Lots of mobilization, perhaps too much mobilization. Reeks of hypocrisy to me. The Frost Empire proved to be rather persuasive as to the legality of the submarine pen and seems to be using it for its ‘intended purpose;’ underwater geology. However, they refused to let the Stoinians perform an inspection of it, which only reinforces the global community’s doubts. Additionally, somebody tried a misinformation campaign that is easily disproven by the data we personally gathered. So yeah, a lot’s going on.”
“I see, it seems I was wrong about this Ministry. The people want a reason to keep me, keep us in power, and I think you’re just the man to help me do that. Now, if you don’t mind, I’d like to get to work.”

Emperor Davide White reclined in his pearly-white porch with a newspaper in his left hand and a cup of the strongest coffee money can buy in his right hand.

It was with the assistance of a few friends that Davide’s empire came to be during the Great War. The “Rihanene Finixi”, as the native populations called the islands, were a prized place with bountiful mining and strategic bridging that were simply never used by the natives. There was bountiful gold to be had, and even more wealth to be acquired. The Antarchi Empire was sitting on a cash cow, in Davide’s eyes.

“Your Excellency, I bring you… interesting news.” Davide’s 2nd wife Kylei brought a docket in her hands. She was half native, her mother was one of the dead chief’s brother’s daughters, and her fluency in the Finixi language was a huge benefit to squashing rebellions before they had the chance to start.

“Yes, dear?”

“Midway Island.” Kylei set the docket on Davide’s lap. She sat herself on the floor in front of him, gazing above the palms that swayed with the ever-present island breeze.

“Submarines. Secret ones. The Frost are saying it’s not real but if that were the case, then why are other nations condemning them?” The woman tapped her foot against the ground. Davide tilted his head to the side, thoughts ran through his mind.

“Go ahead and raid the villages for metals and gemstones. Say that you’re gathering artifacts for the education of Finixi culture, claim to work to put up a museum, I don’t care. We’ll gather a workforce to increase mining operations on the northwest side of the volcano.”

“Yes, your excellency.”

***********

Actions:

  • raid Finixi villages for precious metals and gemstones
  • Send more workers to the mines
  • stockpile resources
  • Show public support for a hypothetical submarine base by the Frost, emphasizing that “it’s their right to defend themselves as they see fit”

February, 1960, Rouketa, People’s Republic of Rhayna

The smell of tobacco infiltrates Galleas’ nostrils directly from Mileas’ pipe. The PRR had saved the furniture, temporally at least. But now, they had a new monster to deal with.

——If we want to be neutral, the world will make sure to force us to pick a side, of course —— Mileas proclaimed before breathing through his pipe again.

Galleas, his vice president, nodded solemnly. The two men sat in a dimly lit, wooden-panelled room in the heart of the presidential building.

——We need the money, however. Rejecting an offer like that for our oil would be stupid. If Stoinia outbids everyone, better for us.

——We aren’t going to ignore what comes from being a petrostate, right?

——I suppose not, but from where do you plan to get money for our war? And for the reconstruction after it? It’s not about us, it’s about the region all together. Besides, we have far more oil than what we can use.

Mileas could not ignore that, with the money, the war would be easier.

——Fine, what’s the big idea?

——Oil is nationalized, they will need to talk with us, so we can push them to agree to some of our demands. We get the money, end the war, and use what’s left for the recovery.

——Yes, and for the war?

——The Nea-gyans already have troops prepared to cross Erchomos, if they successfully cross, they will need to take control of Caledone, and from there, we can continue with Operation Vuris. With their last oil rigs ceased, it’s a question of time until they fall.

——They better do their part.

——They have been rather successful in the last years.

Operation Vuris is a military mission for the destruction of Pruecia’s last oil field with intentional fires, similar to the Kuwaiti oil fires

Actions:

  • Demand Stoinia for military technology in exchange for oil controlling shares
  • Prepare Operation Vuris (1/3)

The Ikaranarean Head Governor sat in his office. His nation was so, so young, so young that he was its first leader. And in the first half-a-decade of its existence, it was already in a spot of trouble.

The Frost Empire had carefully negotiated and manipulated events after the Great War to make Ikaranara militarily and somewhat economically dependent on them. This incident with the submarine base, however, provided some opportunities for the Ikaranareans to benefit themselves.

The plans of the Head Governor and his ministers were simple. They would play the part of a good Frost puppet- but they would work to enrich themselves and expand their military might. This would both avoid angering the Frost Empire and show them that they were being rapidly outgrown. In a lucky scenario, this would make them cede control entirely- and in a worst case, Ikaranara would have the means to fight them off. Ikaranara was not a region, historically, which bent to the will of foreigners- in fact, it was used to doing the bending.

  • Refuse Stoinian wishes to buy oil. (Note: I don’t think this should be a roll, but it is just a one action if it somehow is.)
  • Conduct a campaign to the international community downplaying the scale and importance of the Frost submarine pen.
  • Conduct negotiations with the TCC on reducing their trade volume with those aligned against the Frost Empire in exchange for increased trade flow between them and Ikaranara.
  • Lodge a formal complaint to Akarina about naval activity in the Bay of Spiders.
  • (SECRET) Start building up the Ikaranarean military very slowly. (1/5)
  • Prepare fast action plans to quickly sanction Stoinia, Yttria Huawan and Sedunn in the case that relations significantly drop.

February, 1960. Myurmyansk, the Capital of the Provisional Government of Kliegme.

“Am I hearing this correctly? The Stoinians have reached out to us?”
Pavlov asked his long time friend and more importantly, his foreign affairs minister, Dmitry Kaminsky to elaborate.

“Yes, your excellency. The Stoinians are asking to purchase our resources for what my advisors consider a fair price.”

There wasn’t much reason to outright deny their request. Kliegme could benefit from this, but Pavlov wanted to hear other opinions. Such chance arrived not so long after.

“But would the Terminans just turn a blind eye to losing a monopoly on purchasing our resource? What if they cut support for us over this? Have the Stoinians promised support that may alleviate these concerns?”

Thus objected Minseok Kim, Pavlov’s Economy Minister. Kaminsky retorted to best of his ability, but the latter question was indeed left vague by the Stoinians. A debate was raging with no sign of ending

“Enough. If we’re unsure of how much the Stoinians are willing to support us, why don’t we have the Stoinians come over and negotiate with us over it?”

“We will also have to secure diplomatic recognition at the very least.”

“l concur. I’ll get to work arranging such as soon as possible. We’ll also have to discuss the route in which shipments will be made.”

Now that it is settled, the meeting drifted back towards the situation at hand. The Frosts have deflected accusations to be legal under the Higurashi treaty, and was rather convincing. However, the Frosts have promised to not occupy Kliegme during the Great War. Such deflection had much legitimacy as that promise back then.

“Any suggestions on how we could use this to our advantage?”

“Our propaganda campaign regarding the Frost presence in the island worked wonders domestically. Our population is quite galvanised over seeing history repeat itself. However, it failed to garner support due to lack of evidence. We should move away from utilising the situation directly in foreigner-directed propaganda. Rather, we should utilise it for negotiations or other indirect methods to make us seem more responsible and reliable than our adversaries.”

Imperial Frost General Staff Headquarters, Oured, Frost Empire

Shogun Tadamichi Kensei was signing off the recent invoice from the TCC’s Iosif Sugihara when he heard a knock on the door. “You may Enter” he said as the door slid open. Two sharply dressed officers entered the room simultaneously and saluted, “General Shimazu and Agent J0 reporting” “Hm… has the situation deteriorated so much that both ONI and the High Command need to see me?” asked the Shogun. Agent J0 responded, “Not quite sir, but we believed it best to have a comprehensive response in the wake of Foreign aggression from Huawan and the mob bloc.” “I see, then carry on.” Said the shogun.

“Of course sir, first by order of importance is Ikaranara.” Said Agent J0 “Ikaranara? Wouldn’t it be prudent to push through the more pressing matter like the status of Outpost 72?” Asked the Shogun. General Shimazu chimed in “No sir, Ikaranara is more pressing given the failure of the Garan project. Both ONI and the Naval reconnaissance group have reasons to believe, given their proud nature, that Ikaranarans may one day rebel against the crown we so painstakingly restored.”

“I see and what is the basis of this theory outside of a history of their proud past?” Asked Kensei. “The lessons of the failed Garan project that led to the current intervention in the Kliegmean war. Although unlike the Garanians the Crown hasn’t resorted to brute force and cruelty. However there have been signs that the Ikaranarans are beginning to chafe under the burden of being and Imperial vassal.” Said Agent J0. “I see then we’ll need to remedy this to ensure our interests are maintained. Perhaps we can convince the Ikaranarans to serve as a bulwark against Akarinan.” “That may be difficult under the conditions we placed them in.” Responded J0. “But we have devised a plan to ‘unofficially’ train them at the regimental level.”

“Very well I’ll leave the finer details to both of you. What tell me about Outpost 72.” Asked the shogun. “Of course sir, thanks to the early intervention of Agent K0 the ministry of external affairs has been working overtime to convince the international community that the outpost is both legal and temporary in nature. However, the other Blocs have met our claims with extreme suspicion and have attempted to meddle in our affairs, attempting to infiltrate the outpost outside the scheduled guided ‘tours’. In particular the Huawanese and Emeraldians have been persistent despite their failures.” Said Agent J0. General Shimazu then said, “on the military front preparations for operation Duskborne have been moving smoothly and we expect to counter any sudden escalation from the other blocs. Meanwhile we have also been quietly preparing operation Knightfall under your orders to relieve the Garanians in a swift coup de tat. There is also one more thing, our submarines picked up an explosion around government island and believe that a vessel was unluckily struck by a Great War era mine. One of the subs was dispatched to the source of the explosion and it is our hope that our men should rescue the survivors and recover the dead but at this time we haven’t received word.” “I see, good work and keep me informed, the last thing we need is to be caught off guard when we’re close to securing our hold over Reizen once more.”

Actions:

Operation Knighthood (diplomacy):
Dispatch ONI Agent J0 and J117 to Ikaranara alongside Emissaries of the Ministry of External affairs.(1/1)
Offer fairer terms to the Ikaranaran government in exchange for basing rights and serving as a bulwark against the Akarinan menace. (1/4)

Information Broker Dossier 2-P1:

Kliegme Report

Kliegme’s diplomatic efforts to gain formal recognition from Stoinia have yielded an outstanding victory. The negotiation team presented an irrefutable argument to the Stoinians of independence from the major powers. This critical diplomatic maneuvering enhances Kliegme’s international standing and opens new avenues for collaboration and support. However, they are not able to gain military support nor further an economic agenda from the Stoinians, as the Stoinian government deems it logistically and financially unfeasible to support Kliegme from afar, and a support would lead to more flames in such a turbulent geopolitical weather. However they hinted at the possible prospect of financing Kliegme after the war.

Kliegme successfully cleaned house of enemy spies but with the chaos in the provisional government, it is still possible to infiltrate the Kliegmeans. As this was going the offensive in Vremyansk Oblast did well to distract the Frost armies, however the operation came at a price, with Kliegmean casualties reaching higher than expected.

Andrendia Report

The push for the Minister of Defense’s nuclearization proposal encountered a neutral reception. Despite the intense lobbying and internal maneuvering, the proposal did not gain significant traction. The house still could not shake off the costly development of a nuclear bomb, and that its development may further inflame the already strained geopolitical landscape. This outcome reflects the cautious approach of the Parliament towards nuclearization amidst current uncertainties.

The Andrendian public were fired up from the recent poll from the government. Although the government surveyors meant differently, articles spread like wildfire saying that the government is not in touch enough to respond to the crisis effectively, and not strong enough to strong-arm stronger nations. Showing weakness in the Andrendian public armour. This also caused a successful block of any and all products to and from the Frost empire, severely crippling an already sanctioned Frost Empire and the TCC’s most lucrative trade deal.

The uncertainty of the Andrendian government made them received but ignored. As major international partners could not take the Axolotl empire seriously.

Huawan Report

Huawan had a major difficulty in raising their royal marines. Although conscription helped with training more troops, the army is woefully undersupplied compared to its counterparts. The rest of her navy was also resupplied and primed for action in the Brevero sea, but a violent monsoon season in Huawan delayed their departure for days.

Frost counterintelligence worked tirelessly against the Huawanese. The Huawanese did not manage to rescue their spies as they have been moved away in an unknown location, and although they failed to establish a base of operations in Oured for now, they were able to gain more information about Operation Duskborne and possible other Frost operations. However, while looking through Frost’s nuclear capabilities, they were compromised. Not only does Huawan not know of Frost’s nuclear capabilities, but the Frost Empire now knew that Huawan has a nuclear bomb, the only foreign nation that knew.

Huawan also managed to establish an espionage base in Akarina and were spying on their increased mobilization. However the operation wasn’t as clean as the handler thought, and the Akarinans are fully cautious of any espionage efforts in the nation.

Yet the assessment of Izaakian nuclear capabilities was a resounding success. Many poached physicists from Huawan residing in Izaakia revealed of Izaakia’s ultra-secret nuclear potential, which was active and primed. This caused alarm in the Huawanese cabinet, as the Izaakians have strong arm in the crisis.

In the diplomatic front, the initiative to establish a direct communication line with Sedunn was moderately successful. Although a direct line between Heads of States are made, Huawan needs to be extra careful with their words to Sedunn in regards with the crisis. The same can’t be said with the Stoinians, although a direct channel is made, the communication cables are under maintained, it is possible that it will give out soon if not fixed.

Huawanese diplomacy also hit a turn. The ICC emergency meeting did not gather a desired support due to Huawan’s rapid mobilization and supposed bias. What’s more, the Ikaranarans, under threat from Frost, wholly refused any attempt of communication from the Frost unless Huawan should be lucky. The dignitary to the Rhaynans also did not manage to create substantial difference in their current war and aid came at a cost too high to bear for the Huawanese. The Midway populace were also angry at the Huawanese, as increased Huawanese immigration may cause chaos in such a difficult time for the island, islanders condemned the Huawanese diplomatic efforts.

The Huawanese did manage to sabotage other nations. Some operatives sent guns to the Finixi populace to fight back against Antarchan raids. Its operatives also met with the fathers of the Shai Kong independence movement, and their unwavering monetary and political support spelled the beginning to an end for Stoinian influence in Shai Kong. Rallying a support for the Huawanese agenda in central Cordilia. Despite so, the Kliegmean government, while accepting Huawanese aid, seeing Huawan as another Empire that may subjugate the young nation, completed their diplomatic efforts with great caution against the Huawanese.

Huawan managed to kick out the spies with precision. Destroying any infiltrations from other foreign states like Izaakia. However their plans had a flaw, one that was public. Unless things improve, Huawan may have difficulties in performing any counterintelligence. Huawanese intelligence is compromised.

Riled up by all the difficulties that Huawan experienced, another fiery speech in Parliament managed to rile up the government to maintain a stronger voice in the ICC. Huawan may have lost some of its diplomatic affluence, but it is still a worthy foe in the assembly.

Izaakian Report

Surprisingly, Izaakia managed to create a maritime exclusion zone to the surprise of the other belligerents, and althoough they successfully isolated the area, the move was seen as severely detrimental to both the ICC and the local populace. Possibly escalating the crisis even further. The escalation also successfully had them landing operatives in Government Island led by Commander James Bond. Furthermore, under the disguise of HSE workers, Izaakian operatives infiltrated the submarine base and were immune to Frost’s effort to mask the base being a geological research center. Not only did they knew the submarine base’s exact purpose, but they managed to plant many equipment too. Izaakian operatives also were hinted at “Operation Duskborne” from their counter espionage in Frost lands, but this also made them compromised to ONI operatives in Oured.

Their propaganda efforts fell down to deaf ears, after news of their MEZ in government island, they are unable to counter Frost’s initial propaganda, making them severely untrustworthy in the region. This led to a breakdown in diplomatic efforts with Sedunn and Frost, whom the latter despised Izaakia from a diplomatic fracas. Our sources say that Izaakian leading diplomat tried to eat sushi with a fork and ketchup, which sparked a massive outrage from Frost, undermining any effort for a diplomatic compromise.

Denvari Alliance Report

The attempt to mobilize the 1st “Northern” Fleet at New Emral resulted in moderate failure due to a lack of supplies and manpower. Despite efforts, the fleet’s readiness and deployment faced significant setbacks. However The mobilization of the 1st “Northern” Fleet at Cimbria was a critical success. The fleet is now fully operational and ready for deployment, marking a significant boost to naval capabilities and enhancing strategic positioning.

Our sources revealed that the effort to increase military presence on the Spirasian-Reizen border was mired with difficulties across the board. The planned military buildup did not proceed as intended, potentially leaving the border less fortified against Reizen. This also led to a massive breakdown of spying operations by ERIDA in Reizen and the sub pen. The former operation encountered severe challenges, leading to compromised results and increased difficulty in gathering intelligence on Reizen and making them compromised to not only Reizen but also ONI operatives.

The second diplomatic outreach to Sedunn regarding the current situation was a success. Coupled with a strong and fiery condemnation of the Frost Empire in the ICC, the Denvari Alliance was seen as a steady and even hand in diplomatic discussions. This engagement has strengthened diplomatic relations not only with the ICC and Sedunn, but also Stoinia, who received the Denvari well.

Sedunn Report

The dispatch to Stoinia, containing intel from aerial surveillance, did not sufficiently clarify the submarine situation, and the intended diplomatic message was not effectively communicated. This is particularly due to a coffee-stained document This failure also introduces Higurashi Contempt, increasing the difficulty of future joint diplomacy with Higurashi.

Yet the document was enough to form a joint staff operation with Stoinia, one of Sedunn’s most loyal allies. This collaborative effort has been well-received, enhancing strategic cooperation between Sedunn and Stoinia and facilitating a more coordinated response to the crisis.

The search and rescue efforts to look for the submarine is doing well. They managed to track the location of the submarine and are planning to perhaps find something. Meanwhile, the preparation of Airforce bases on the Remetulls to support the rescue task force hugely successful. The bases are now well-equipped and prepared to defend the task force from potential threats, ensuring enhanced protection and operational readiness of an increased heat around Government Island.

Sedunn also shared knowledge of the submarine pen with the Frost to varying success. While this move was intended to demonstrate Sedunn’s awareness and capability to act against Frost, the move didn’t do much to faze the Frost and influence their actions.

Yet the remarkable preparedness of the Remetulls was widely publicized by the world at the news spread like wildfire. The action cemented the idea that Sedunn will defend the previous accords and would not hesitate to respond militarily against Frost. In turn this benefitted Sedunn’s soft power, multiplying it greatly in the crisis as a fair hand

Yttria Report

A lack of individuals understanding Hinomoto made multiple communication difficulties with the Frost empire from the Yttrians. Creating a massive probability for mistranslation and difficulty of future diplomatic actions with the Frost Empire.

This in turn undermined deescalation efforts from the Yttrians, their lack of translators caused them to be held in contempt in the ICC and the international community. The widely publicized fracas from the Yttrians also soured their relations with local islanders in Midway.

Yet despite so, Yttrian deep-sea geologists unveiled a valuable insights into submarine deployment and operations, alleviating Frost’s propaganda and aiding Yttrian strategic planning of the situation. Despite so, we see that their intelligence is very much outdated.

Rhaynan Report

The Rhaynans did their best in asking for military technology, but through a sneaky economic maneuver from the Stoinians. Rhaynans got their oil and having little to nothing in return. The trade deal blunder have reduced Rhayna’s domestic economy in such a turbulent time. Yet the first step of Operation Vuris was successful, Rhaynan operatives managed to procure explosives and stockpile petroleum for operation Vuris. Operatives are ready to go with the second step of the plan

Frost Report

Dispatched ONI agents were supposed to accompany the diplomatic and military team to Ikaranara. However, we understood that one of our agents were captured and agent “J0” and “J117” are now keen to capture us and prevent these dossiers. How futile, I suppose they will not do much in the crisis.

Yet with the help of diplomats that did arrive safely. Frost secured more favorable terms, including basing rights and support against Akarina. While there is much to be done, it is an excellent foundation for Frost to keep Akarina in check.

The drill instructors failed to secure a ship due to increasing tensions between the empire and the international community, with ships being redirected to troop transport instead of diplomatic training missions. They were delayed. This is possible due to Akarinan interference.

For Operation Hush, the deployment of ONI agents for capturing spies in Reizen achieved moderate success. As marked with the disarray of Denvari spies in Reizen. However, despite excellent interrogation and torture methods, captured spies refused to yield information, creating a setback to Frost counterintelligence efforts. Yet with excellent wordsmiths, we have information that Frost is willing to release the captured spies in exchange for information, if the spies do not want to be executed. This tactic effectively pressured the other parties, enhancing Frost’s strategic leverage and potentially securing valuable intelligence.

For Operation Cautious Wind, The reinforcement of the garrison along the Reizen-Spiras border was moderately successful. This move bolstered Frost’s defensive posture, addressing concerns about Emeraldian aggression. Internally however, the reinforcements are underequipped and undersupplied by Reizen.

The preparation of the 8th fleet faced failure. The fleet was not adequately prepared to depart Ikrejin due to a severe lack of supplies and manpower, which may impact Frost’s naval readiness and response capabilities from Ikrejin.

Although Frost gave an impassionate speech in the ICC, diplomats boo the Frost diplomats as they were the ones that caused the crisis to begin with. A televised ICC discussion also unveiled that one of the Frost diplomats punched a Ryccian diplomat, and the entire team was held in contempt and exacerbating the crisis even further.

Moreover, Operation Fair Wind, what we see was a rescue attempt for the downed submarine, met with failure. Although they managed to locate the wreckage, they lost the signal to the depths of the Brevero sea. The fate of the downed Sedunnic seamen is lost to the depths.

Stoinia Report

Stoinia undertook a series of strategic economic, diplomatic, espionage, and internal actions to counter the influence of the Frost Empire and bolster its own position. However, the economic efforts to buy out oil reserves from Frost’s suppliers resulted in an overall outstanding failure across the board. Frost petroleum supplies are highly loyal to the empire and refuse to sell their stock to Stoinia. Moreover, while Stoinia managed to procure some fuel from Rhayna, Stoinia was sold shares for oil wells in Operation Vuris, which will soon be burned by the Rhaynans. Although Stoinia did well with the negotiations, the Rhaynans bamboozled the deal. Separately, attempts to acquire controlling shares in uranium mining companies and convince TCC city-states to allow competition in selling Kliegmean oil also failed, further impacting resource acquisition plans of Stoinia. Spelling an imminent disaster.

Widespread anti-Frost campaign continued in Stoinia that riled up the populace and fanned support for the Stoinian cause. Corinian weather control from Stoinian scientists was successful i its current phase. Both the propaganda and weather campaign still needed time and effort to complete.

Operation Guardian Tide was reported to be wildly successful, the Stoinians managed to gain intel on maritime surface movements with ease, and they did manage to convince the Ryccians to host Stoinian aerial reconnaisance resources in the Siculites. The sub patrols and a spy network in Reizen were also successful, though our reports unveil that it will take some time and effort until they complete their objectives.

The same could not be said of the Kingdom’s diplomatic efforts, which was a mixed bag. Although Mr. Tejero tried to organize a diplomatic party in the ICC, no one showed up, still upset at the Stoinian bias in the ICC and trying to evade from their sphere of influence. Although Stoinia improved relations with Ryccia, they were not very keen in taking a crack at the crisis and refused to back Operation Guardian tide, additionally they were also not keen in having Ryccian money and investments go towards the Stoinian war effort.

Stoinia tried to improve relations with Yttria to mixed results, the staunchly neutral Yttrians saw through the Stoinians, while the Yttrians warmly welcomed increased Stoinian relations, they were unconvinced to stand with the Stoinians. This caused Stoinian anti-frost propaganda to be seen negatively by the populace, while it may convince some of the Yttrian population t o be anti-frost, most are not convinced that seeing it from a biased Stoinian perspective is the correct thing.

Moreover, although the Stoinians managed to court TCC states loyal to the Frost Empire trade, they could not convince them to accept Kliegmean oil. Believing that the TCC will lose the lucrative trade contract with the Frost Empire. The Stoinian diplomats tried to bribe the TCC but are met with hostility. Since Stoinia refused economical help to Kliegme, the latter decided to refuse the sale of raw resources to Stoinia, thinking that it may damage the Kliegmean war effort.

Relations with Andrendia and Akarina are improved significantly, with a trade mission to the former. However despite the oil trade share with Rhayna, tensions continue. A shortage of interpreters to Rhayna yielded unfavorable results and failed to kickstart a trade mission.

Amidst increased tensions in Shai Kong, Stoinia installed spies against the Huawanese and try to regain influence against the Shai Kong independence movement. Thankfully however, the Stoinians managed to strong-arm the Frost Empire to join an ICC public hearing, the Frost will entertain this in the coming days in the ICC.

Ikaranara Report

The refusal to sell oil to Stoinia was somewhat of a failure. While the Ikaranarans successfully refused the Stoinians, the Stoinians managed to gain some petroleum from private suppliers. Severely diminishing key supplies from Ikaranara. Moreover, intensive bootlicking of the Frost narrative in regards to the submarine base not only disappointed the international community but also angered the Ikaranaran local populace against what they viewed was an Ikaranaran puppet government.

However experienced diplomats managed to convince the TCC to reduce trade volume with enemies of those against the Frost influence, the TCC, amused at the prospect, decided to award Ikaranara an exclusive trade contract that severely boasted its economical options for the ungoing crisis. Incensed, a complaint was given to the Akarinans, who accepted the complaint on the increased movement on the Bay of Spiders, though not much attention was given towards it.

The Ikaranaran minister of defense also launched a slow but steady effort to build up the Ikaranaran military for what may be an upcoming war in the region. The new republic managed to find soldiers to flock to the barracks, though it will be some time until they managed to field an army that could rival its neighbors.

Antarchi Report

The Finixians, with help from mercenary pirates managed to ambush the Antarchans and destroy the raiding soldiers. Moreover, the attack was publicized by a reporter and the subsequent outrage caused the international community to condemn the Antarchi.

Although the Antarchi managed to successfuly send more soldiers to the mines, they are not able to stockpile significant resources due to bad weather and horrid safety conditions.

The only silver lining was that a public endorsement of the Frost submarine pen may have further ostracized the Antarchi, but the Frost were amused and decided to give the Antarchi Empire their blessing and support in the coming months.

Ikoania Report

Ikoanian fleets try to move out of the harbor, but bad fuel had clogged up the engines and made them stationary in Ikoanian harbors. Internal propaganda against foreigners and the crisis incensed the populace against external influence and strengthening the Ikoanian government.

Ikoanian operatives tried to infiltrate the Frost intelligence network and was met with slight failure, they are unable to gain intelligence, however their extraction was clean and the Frost Empire was not aware of their attempt.

Meanwhile, the stockpile of fuel in Ikoania was a difficult affair. While they managed to secure a source, improper and inadequate refining technology may cause severe problems in the fuel’s usage unless resolved.

Finally, our sources reportedly said that Rohadek tried to look out the window for a good weather. But monsoon season diminished his hopes, and he was demoralized.

Late February, 1960, Andreopolis, Andrendia.
After the neutral reception of the Nuclearization plan by the Minister of Defense, most of the government decided to forget that small controversy ever happnened. The Minister himself decided to promose a tamer increase in military budget to upgrade the equipment and the proposal will go to parliament in the following days.
“I formally apologize for what my proposal has done to the public reception of my ministry, the army and the government as a whole. My new proposal will hopefully not cause as much havoc.”
Like his nuclearization plan, his apologies were received neutrally from the population. Great thing after the fail of the Government’s survey plan. Even if the Empire just wanted to know what the people thought to gain knowledge on what ideas the people would’ve approved of, the public thought that the Andreian Government was just not strong enough to deal with the Crisis.
During the afternoon of February 23rd, Emperor Franco Oloto IV decided to call Prime Minister Sergio Callisto. The head of state and the head of government of the Empire were weirdly silent over the nuclearization controversy and the survey’s failure.
“To wrap things up, 2 days from now I will hold an Imperial Speech and make clarity over everything that’s happening. If you want to intervene in the speech or make one of your own, be my guest Mr Callisto.”
“I think I’ll pass on the intervention your Majesty, but I have my ideas for a speech to the Nation.”
“Take your time to write something meaningful then, the people aren’t happy.”
“I’m aware of that and I will do my best to make them.”
Moving out to other matters, the recent sanctions against the Frost have succesfully crippled their economy. Parliament has no plans on installing additional sanctions and will continue this one until the Crisis is resolved.
In other news, after relations with Stoinia were improved, the Minister of Economy has proposed the selling of the large surplus of Andreian Oil to the Stoinians, to increment the ever larger amounts of black gold in Stoinian hands and gain some money for the Empire. This matter will also be decided in parliament in the following days.
The improvement of relations with Stoinia have also pushed Andrendia into making some much needed efforts into gaining more international allies, that hopefully won’t turn them down. The first effort the Empire is taking is recognizing the Kliegmean government.

  • Hold Imperial Speech to the nation

The halls of Lon’s home were once again filled with silence. It was all going wrong, every single God damn thing. He’d tried to play nice, but no one seemed to listen. And worst of all, he couldn’t even count on his own citizens to back him up. Apparently, not a single one of them knew how to speak that weird Frost language, or at least the ones that did didn’t care to speak up. That was the problem in the end; everyone wanted Lon to lose.
Well, he wasn’t going to go down that easily.
His hands were very much tied behind his back. There was too little time to do anything meaningful to help his situation, like investing in mandatory language classes at schools, and he wasn’t certain he could still garner enough support in parliament to pass anyhting that significant. Prime Minister Lon leaned back in his chair, sighing. They all had one last chance before he took drastic action.

The meeting with the Stoinians were… well, not unproductive, Kliegme did recieve diplomatic recognition with promises that Stoinia will establish an diplomatic relation as soon as possible, but fell extremely short of expectations.

Whatever Stoinia’s intentions were, it was nothing short of arrogance to the Kliegmeans, barging into the meeting like they own the place while offering nothing else in return for Kliegmean resources and material they ask for. Military equipment? Too far away. Economic aid? Maybe later.

Pavlov sighed. With the Frosts slowly conducting a tactical withdrawal from the northeastern parts of Kliegme to shore up their defences in Gawrnov, Mumiea itself was secure. With Bisei firmly under Kliegmean control with the siege being lifted and Frost ships leaving the area to aid the Frost forces in the Northeast, several strategic objectives were achieved.

However, just as much as the enemy was regrouping, Kliegme needed to halt their advances for now. The Liberation Army was exhausted after a long battle crossing the Itrysh. Spring was approaching, meaning the ground will thaw and cause logistical problems. Despite Gawrnov being fortified at this very moment, Kliegme is to take time to recover from previous battles.

At least it gave time to look outwards. It seems that the Stoinian offer was part of a wider strategy to pressure Frost to withdraw from the Miduvey(OOC: Russian(Karnetvorian) for Midway apparently) Island. Pavlov’s archives did store many documents on the island, considering how his dominion was used as a starting point for the Karnetvorian landings. Perhaps…

“Your Excellency, the villages are revolting. Pirates have been aiding the villages and nations are speaking out against your empire.”

Davide scrunched his face at the news his 7th wife, Ambre gave. Ambre shrugged her shoulders like nothing was wrong.

“We could pick one village and treat them well and show the world the wealth of the Empire, where the chosen Finixi people and the Antarchi people live in perfect harmony. Ensure they are fabulously wealthy. Perhaps a bit stupid too? They can’t cause problems if they’re too dumb?”

“They are all dumb as a rock. But Fanome, Lilana, and Karakata villages, those are the villages with the Fafano’a and Kalanara tribes, we can try to work with them.” Davide took a sip of his drink of choice.

“They already live in luxury?”

“Even better.”

Davide stuffed a drumstick in his mouth with a smile on his face.

Gordon Fafano’a was already in the tea shop, sipping away at his 3rd cup of hibiscus tea when the Empire’s darling, Kylei White, walked in. She loved keeping up with the latest fashions around the empire and flaunting her status as Wife of the Emperor in a way the other wives never did. She especially loved showing off to the Finixi people and the surviving members of her family of the lavish lifestyle she could lead while everyone else wore nothing but rags.

"Kirifi, Gordon. How have you been?" Kylei’s shrill voice sounded like nails on a chalkboard, wearing on his ability to keep a straight face towards the symbol of oppression. However, he knew that the empire had an offer to make that would benefit him greatly.

“I am fine. Do you want tea? It is hibiscus.” Gordon’s ability with the Antarchi language was just enough to get by, but he could understand a bit more.

"Oh, absolutely. Pour me a cup will you? I have an offer from His Excellency that may interest you.

Government Island

‘Gods how I wish were back in Oured than raked through the coals for reasons outside of my knowledge…’ Minister Seiji Kogami thought as he sighed softly to himself. The ICC argued amongst themselves in the background over what to do over the recent escalations. He was fortunate that they somewhat understood that the Empire was not the greater threat when the Izaakians threatened this island with their MEZ. However, he couldn’t breathe a sigh of relief yet as the Stoinians had strong armed the Frost Delegation into a public hearing. Worse still the ONI pair K0 and K1 had embedded themselves within his delegation as delegate, Kei Ookamijo, and security guard, Kenji Ichiya. As Kogami dwelled deep within his thoughts, Kei addressed the ICC in fluent Austral,

"Fellow delegates, I must repeat on behalf of Minister Kogami that the Frost Empire has nothing to hide. Once again, the Submarine Pen is a temporary base of operations for a domestic infrastructure project connecting the two halves of the Frost Empire. We have publicly promised to abandon the Submarine Pen once our domestic project is finished. We have even gone so far to allay your suspicions that we have even guided many of you on tours into the Submarine Pen and yet some of you still persist with falsehoods with one even going so far as to impose a naval exclusion zone in direct violation of the Treaty of Higurashi.

If the Empire had designs on Government Island would you think that we would be standing here today to address your concerns? Of course not! If we had designs on Government Island, you’d see a full division of armed Frost troops deporting you back to your homes. So where is the Frost Division threatening you? Not here, but look to the seas and you see the so called Democratic Bloc act with unbridled aggression ignoring the rule of law.

If Izaakia and the other members of that bloc do not cease their acts of agression against Government Island and the Frost Empire, the Empire will have little choice but to retaliate and end the Democratic Bloc’s unlawful blockade so that we can finish our undersea project and go home. I must reiterate that every day the Empire is delayed is a day the Empire is Forced to remain on the island. If you fellow delegates truly wish for us to leave, then let us finish in peace-"

Oured
“What am I looking at” asked Shogun Kensei as he tossed the file back onto his desk. “Project Rusalka sir.” responded Agent R0, head of ONI division R. “An experimental deep sea submersible platform designed for intelligence gathering and surveillance. Perfectly suitable for housing second strike capabilities.” “And is this a stationary platform?” asked the Shogun. “No sir, though we say submersible platform, I should say that it would be more accurate to say that this is a submarine that can double as a stationary platform. Although we are building a prototype to be sunk off the coast of the Yamato Island chains.” replied R0,

“I see,” said Kensei, “So you’re showing me this to consider an alternative to holding the Submarine Pen?” “Of course not sir,” said R0 feigning ignorance, “This equipment is experimental and would take at least a decade for us to fully test, but the Submarine pen already utilizes existing technologies and is much safer to maintain, although the discovery of the base does reduce its usefulness. No sir, I’m hoping to receive permission to install this in the waters north of the Rainbow islands once the technology is sound?”

“What for?” asked the Shogun. “Well sir, you may have noticed that the Imperialist Remnants on the Finixi islands have begun voicing their support for us…” R0’s voice began to trail off. The Shogun silently lit a pipe as he acknowledge the ONI agent’s role as a former partisan advisor during the Great War. “I understand your war isn’t over… However, the Frost Empire isn’t at war with the Antarchi Empire. You understand don’t you?”

“Of course sir, I understand that the Ministry of External affairs may try to establish relations with the Antarchi empire, but-” said R0 before he was cut off “You know the drill, R0” interrupted Kensei, “Off the books, no official support, and false insurgent group status.” R0 looked stunned, “What? When you’re shogun you’re allowed a few personal projects, and dealing with imperial Remnants sounds like something I need to hear especially after the failures of the Garan Project. With the reports of valor from the United Front and cruelty from our Garanian partners, we might’ve backed the wrong side.”

The Shogun shrugged before continuing, “Still we deal with the hand we’ve been dealt with. Now, back to your request, you report to directly to me alone at least. The thought of informing the other ONI division heads has crossed my mind, but its much easier to fool your enemies when they believe you have turned rogue. Though we’ll need to restrain the more zealous ONI divisions from hunting you down when you return to brief me on the situation.” “Thank you sir,” R0 said saluting, “Don’t thank me yet, R0, You may end up regretting your decision.” said the Shogun cautioning the ONI division commander.
