A forest of golden conifers in one of the endless mountainscapes of Floret’s continents. Though influence from many other worlds is here present, Earth’s example is still the most characteristic.

Syangveld, also known as G-39 and technically designated as the [[G-39 // Syangveld]] Jointly-Managed Commune-Confluence System, was what most political scientists and diplomatic figureheads of both sides involved would have called a “sociopolitical experiment” born from a combination of misfortune and stubborness and continued through a mixture of curiosity and deprioritization.

In 412 BBT the relatively young F-type star became a point of major interest for multiple groups in the Hyrgaencher Shore, a region at the edge of the diffused Hyrgaench Nebula located in the spinwards mainlands of the Confluence: primarily hailing from the Spiral Commonwealth and the Nimid’palmun Empire, the various associations wished to detach from their polities to create their own in a new system of their choosing. Though originally separate, the groups of neo-colonists were compatible enough to be able to coordinate in their action and merge into a new polity - the Petalist Community - that could harmoniously settle in a new system as a single society. A number of industrious habships and construction vessels also adhered to the Community, and with their help the colonists made their way en masse towards Syangveld, ready to begin the construction of a new Orbital they could call home.

Some decades earlier, however, much the same had happened over in the Commune: various citizens from System G-26, feeling too complacent in their long-developed and auto-utopian worlds, decided to venture out and also make their way towards the metal-rich and electromagnetically quiet Syangveld (or, as they began to designate it, System G-39 ). Traversing their stargate connection to closer G-35, the colonist groups pushed the antimatter-fusion hybrid drives of their lighthuggers at full thrust and slowly sailed across the interstellar void at relativistic speed.

Due to a misfortunate alignment between the faster-than-light habships and the relativistic lighthuggers, both parties involved reached the system at the exact same time. It did not take long for the two groups to detect one another’s presence, and since neither had built any infrastructure or started their settlement procedures, their claim to the system was reciprocally challenged and unclear. Since the surrounding systems were all poor in heavier elements - and building a sufficiently large nucleosynthetic forge would have been an hassle - nobody was willing to relocate: compounded by their rather evident ideological differences, animosity started to grow and sour, so much so that it likely would have turned into hostility if the two common governments of the colonists’ civilizations hadn’t directly intervened in the matter.

After some diplomatic exchanges between the High Botanists and the Council of Foreign Affairs, it was ultimately decided that the system would be colonized by both groups: the Communalists would settle in the terrestrial planets of the inner system, while the Petalist Community would instead build their Orbital in the outer system. To ensure equitable energy distribution and system control, management of the central dyson swarm would be shared between Guard and Worship Of Twilight Strawberries, a diplomatic Dominion of the Confluence.

Though initially a rather precarious situation, over time this forced cohabitation evolved into something quite favorable: Syangveld//G-39 became the largest trading point between the Confluence and the Commune, as well as their most important location for diplomatic exchanges. It was because of this that the system was connected to the two civilizations’ wormhole networks through an astroduct and a stargate, so that communication and cargo traffic could flow through it with little impediment.

At the forefront of Syangveld’s diplomatic and political scene was Aldevelle Oshtre Ulbinam, official representative of Floret Orbital and the Petalist Community in all matters pertaining to foreign affairs.

Aldevelle was a genetweaked human, born and raised in the temperate forests of Cozon, one of Floret’s smaller continents. Even in her earlier childhood she expressed a certain fascination with artifacts and ancient objects of all kinds: when she became an independent adult and moved away from her family’s homestead, Aldevelle designed a large mansion on the rocky shores of lake Ileppu, built in a complex fusion of architectural styles and artistic influences from the ancient histories of many Founderkin and Flowkin civilizations. Her home’s size was not so much intended to accomodate other people: she lived alone, and though she had had multiple experiences with a wide variety of partners things had never properly worked out with them (though they often remained good friends). Instead, her grand manor served the purpose of being a vast gallery of art and rare objects from all over the Confluence and beyond, a living museum that frequently expanded and reshuffled as she acquired more and more cultural artifacts to display.

Making good use of her profound and extensive knowledge of the histories of many cultures and societies, as well as the many connections she had made for herself by hosting tours and dinners in her home, Aldevelle decided to run for the position of Petalist diplomatic representative after the previous one had decided to retire. She won the elections in 43 BBT, and kept re-winning the popular confidence vote every 5 years ever since then. Admittedly, things were relatively quaint in her system: though a trafficked and bustling location, a balance had been reached long before her time had come, one that could easily be kept stable by adjusting exports here and there or by modifying existing treaties a bit to be more accomodating to the whims of both her populace and G-39’s Council.

But now that balance was now being threatened, and handling it could very well prove to be harder than she could hope to predict.

As the Confluence made its way into the international stage proper after some centuries of passive isolationism, the retaliatory threats of the Covenant of Fire, the dangers posed by Dokavian jingoism and the terrorist attack in Cadeau Lumineuse warranted an increased military presence along border systems, especially those close to other civilizations or who served as important exchange points with foreign powers. Syangveld was the perfect example of such, and given the concealed animosity the Confluence held for the Commune, an upgrade to Floret’s defense systems, and increase in its own defense force and the stationing of quite more CAF warships than usual were essentially undisputably certain. However, this heightened military presence did not sit well with G-39’s Council, who shared similar if not heightened concerns with the other communalist systems sitting in the increasingly-militarized border volumes. To prevent worry and usual distrust from flowering into aggressiveness, the Petalist Community (especially after the not-so-subtle intimations by Worship Of Twilight Strawberries and their superiors) decided to nip it in the bud and open diplomatic talks as soon as possible to adress and hopefully solve these issues.

Aldevelle waited in a large, empty hangar on the outer surface of the Orbital: off in the distance of space, rapidly approaching, she could see Floret’s forcefields guiding the multi-kilometer Communalist lighthugger towards the entry port. It would soon pierce through the airwall and be docked by a lockfield, after which the representatives of the Council would disembark and meet her. She readied herself.

The orbital; private docking port

23rd of October, 0 ABT

As the lighthugger docks, there disembarks a diplomatic entourage of two elite combatants of the Arcane Detail department of the Armed Forces Council, alongside Azark, Chief Envoy and representative to G-39 to the Foreign Affairs council. The group makes its way to Aldevelle, with Azark opening with:

“Greetings.”

Azark bows out of respect, clearly enthusiastic to discuss such important matters. Azark is wearing a luxurious blazing-red suit, crafted with bio-weave, a symbol of Communalist culture and customs.

“We have a vast amount of discussion ahead of us, I look forward to finishing these with you today.”

Azark was a human, born and raised as a native of the G-39 system of the Commune, mostly inhabiting the main planet 39.G-C1 (known colloquially as Neol). Their first endeavor was in the Armed Forces council, where they fought for the Commune and contributed to the development of its many technologies. After resigning from their position of Captain, they moved on to other objectives.

Moreover, Azark had spent much of their adult life within the Foreign Affairs council, where they had earned a reputation as an exceptional diplomat. Azark was regarded as one of the Commune’s most promising envoys, having successfully represented Communalist interests across numerous interstellar forums. They had also earned an enormous amount of respect from the natives of G-39, and had become a representative for them not only diplomatically, but also culturally.

Like many born within the systems of the Commune, Azark possessed a deep belief of collective governance and international cooperation. Azark subscribed to the anarchist school of thought, the most popular in the Commune, whom teaches the citizen about how the Commune is governed. They were known amongst colleagues in said school of thought for their energetic behavior and their constant willingness to help anyone.

Their assignment to represent G-39 was considered a significant responsibility. Even though G-39 might not have the greatest military or economic power, it held considerable diplomatic importance due to its proximity to the Confluence of Empires. As a result, the system often found itself at the center of negotiations. Representatives assigned to G-39 were expected to navigate constantly changing politics, balancing the interests of the Foreign Affairs council, the Armed Forces council, as well as the great Council itself.

For Azark, representing G-39 was never a normal assignment. It was their home system, a place where they had been raised and where many of the people they cared about still lived. Because of this, they approached their role with a degree of personal commitment that many found difficult to ignore.

To showcase cultural respect, as well as to make the Communalists feel more comfortable in her vast world, Aldevelle simiarly bowed down in response. With a soft yet imposing voice, she addressed the Chief Envoy and the rest of their entourage.

“Welcome to the Confluence, envoy Azark. Do not worry, we will have ample time to thoroughly discuss anything that you may deem worthy of our attention. If you would all follow me, I shall accompany you to my home. A fitting place for our talks, where you may all rest and savour the refreshments if you find yourself willing to do so.”

The group, confidently lead by Aldevelle, walked down a long empty corridor illuminated by a long lamp that ran down its entire length, casting a warm and almost sunlike glow throughout the space. At the end was a large transport pad, the size of a large room, outfitted with multiple chairs and poufs to be properly accomodating to its passengers for any of their possibly quite long travels throughout the interior spaces of the Orbital. After everyone was settled in Aldevelle activated the pad, which suddenly began to rise upwards at vertiginous speeds throughout the structural width of the ring, the strong acceleration seamlessly compensated by inertial dampeners.

After some brief minutes of travel, the pad emerged through a large hatch in the ground and landed in the orderly rocky garden of Aldevelle’s mansion.

Sitting around the room on various chairs and sofas, the rest on the entourage awaited in the tea room nearby while Azark and Aldevelle took a seat on two gilded silk couches at the center of the lounge. The two elite combatants stood still and attentive besides the door, ever on the ready to barge in if something were to happen. Aldevelle admittedly found it rather endearing.

“I hope the space is proving to be comfortable enough for you and your team; you could say I am one of quite ancient persuasions. If there is anything you need, let me know and I shall see to it with haste.”

“Now, before we begin in proper. Do you have any questions about the Confluence or about Syangveld? I understand this is your first time on the orbital.”
