I shall grant a wish, and nominate @ExquisiteGentleman for craziest person!

My campaign will be posted in around 4 hours or so.

Seeing this nomination means a lot to me on its own. Sadly, though, I think I must decline. These past few months, I have been so solely focused on my duties in the SPSF on Libcord that I am likely not as plugged into the rest of our great community as I believe a good PM should be. Maybe next cycle.

I appreciate the nomination, but I must decline this time round. I’m too busy consolidating my power in the deep state…

Kringle is barred from running under 1(3) of the Elections Act (unless they resign as Election Commissioner).

He could still resign all conflicting positions and run if he really wanted to

Yes, but who would run the election in that case? It’s inviting chaos.

I don’t believe resignation is necessary unless Kringle wins the election. The Elections Act provides that the EC may ā€œfind[-] an accepted surrogate to oversee the election in their place.ā€

I suppose you’re right about that, however, is it even permissible to do so once the election has started?

I would say so. After all, if the EC were to resign mid-election–unrelated to the desire to run for office, but simply for personal reasons–then we would presumably select another EC in their place and proceed with the election. It’s not as if the vote would simply be called off. So I don’t see why that same principle wouldn’t apply to the provision permitting the EC to find a surrogate in lieu of resignation.

I humbly accept and hereby petition the Council on Regional Security to appoint an Election Commissioner for this election.
