Flaming for Prime Minister May 2026

Hello! I’m Flaming. This is my second campaign, but now I’m doing it from someone who has spent a good few weeks as MoC, and has seen and interacted with other government members. While it’s not exactly a full term, I definitely have been able to see how government has operated- even without a PM.

My perspective and goals have not changed drastically since my first campaign, but due to the circumstances of this one, I now have another goal: stability. Many in the cabinet already have ongoing plans. Therefore, I plan on disrupting these plans as little as possible while also pursuing my own, unique, executive agenda.

Like before, I am running a heavy emphasis on culture. I have already made changes to the Pollmaster (previously RMB Mayor) system as co-MoC, and now have experience running a competition. I will definitely be keeping the current culture calander plans (which I obviously had a part in making anyways) but also want to do new things that weren’t planned, such as the wargames I mentioned in my previous campaign.

Aside from all of the culture events, I do still want to create more “Starter” government positions. Pollmaster sort of acts as one, but I definitely want more deputy ministers and even other roles, because I strongly believe that a community’s greatest strength is not just running events and great infrastructure, but being able to create a continuum of people who can maintain and improve those events and infrastructure as the older members move on from the game. I want getting into government to be accessible, and not something you only consider after years of being in the community, or even not at all if it’s too overwhelming.

I also want to work with the MoI to better increase on-site off-site communication, and to make people on-site care that they have a government. It is still strange to me that one could exist on-site without ever caring that there is a government at all outside of the MoC and Delegate. We need to remember that TSP is a NationStates community, not just a discord and forum.

Feel free to ask questions, of course!

Do you support bringing back the Executive Staff and reestablishing a regional civil service?

Will you commit to posting regularly on the RMB?

Hello! A few questions:

  • Do you have an idea of what these other “starter” positions would look like? What types of roles do you envision for them, and how will they help them to get their footing in TSP government?
  • You have an excellent vision for culture, and your campaign makes that very clear. However, your campaign is entirely devoid of mention of your plans for foreign affairs and the SPSF. Is this because of an overall lack of plans for these departments, or could you provide some context as to what you may be thinking?
  • Finally, OWL is not an executive agency, but it has seen an expansion in both its size and the scope of the responsibilities it has taken-on. Firstly: do you support this expansion? And regardless of your answer to that first part, will you commit to maintaining consistent communication and provide insight and assistance when needed to OWL?

I will be asking all the candidates the same question: What sets you apart from everyone else running?

What are your intentions for the cabinet

Thank you, again, for throwing your hat into the ring. I appreciate this campaign because it leans heavily on what we already have. We’re going to be looking at a PM with an ~2 month term, which is fairly short, so I think it is smart to start from where we are build from there rather than rebuilding everything.

I reiterate Aidenfeeld’s question about the “starter” positions. I think this is a laudable idea in concept but in practice I am concerned about execution—what specific roles are you going to try to create as “starter” positions and how are you going to ensure the people in those roles are mentored and “brought into the fold” effectively?

I want to hear more about your integration positions. I think your campaign as-is identifies a problem but does not really identify a solution and I want to hear more there. How will you increase engagement between the on-site and off-site platforms of TSP? What other entities in government will you involve in this plan?

Lastly, your campaign doesn’t really mention Foreign Affairs. I think that’s fine to an extent—it’s a hard area to get involved in and it’s not your strength—but I am curious how you will make significant Foreign Affairs decisions given that. How would you resolve disagreements among your advisors or between your externally facing Ministers when they arise? How “hands on” will you be in high-level negotiations or will you defer heavily to your Minister?

What are your plans for telegram recruitment of new nations to TSP?

I think that a civil service is a good idea. I don’t know much about what the Executive Staff needed to do, but it could definitely act as a boost to cabinets.

As for the RMB, of course. I have already been trying to post there more, although IRL has constricted me for the past month or so, school is over, so regardless I will be posting more there.

In essence, it will look similar to deputy ministers, but there would be more of them, and they would have less responsibility. These positions will see how the different ministries operate, see what generally needs to be done, and will have low-risk tasks. For instance, a person who is in a starter MoC position (only an example as I think Pollmaster will essentially serve as this) would observe the creation of calendars, how events work and how to format things, and they might have tasks writing sections of TSSG, coming up with ideas for competitions, or writing a dispatch for one. Someone at Foreign Affairs would be learning how to be diplomatic, to approach negotiations, and to promote TSP, and might serve under an ambassador or (assuming enough trust) be the sole ambassador to a smaller region. Someone at Defense would be coached at higher-level defending practices that most SPSF recruits don’t need to know, and would likely observe command decisions during R/D events. Obviously in the case of defense I can’t guarantee hands on experience leading, as that depends on both what Raiders do (if they do anything) and the Libcord operational procedures. But the idea, essentially, is to provide low-responsibility training roles that allow a person to become immersed in a ministry, rather than just jumping into a high trust high responsibility role. (like cabinet minister)

Currently, my only plans for Defense and MoFA are Wargames (both) and potential events we could host with friendly regions, particularly those fellow defenders in Aegis. Currently, the military and foreign affairs situations are stable, and so unlike in say culture, my plans just involve keeping readiness and relations up and not any drastic changes, especially considering the volatile nature of this term.

I wholeheartedly support the expansion of OWL. I think the WA is an underlooked part of engagement. If we can have a strong WA agency (and maybe even promote GA resolution writers in the future) I think it would do wonders for WA participation in TSP. I will definitely work with OWL if the need arises, and will communicate with them whenever they need it.

I am not going to claim to be a super strong FA person, but I would not defer entirely to the ministers, considering high-level negotiations. My main goals would just be to ensure that all aspects of TSP are being considered when making a deal. Otherwise I think I would be able to trust my ministers enough to handle most common FA duties.

I could work with the MoI on this matter, but there’s already been some good telegrams by Henn. I think that just continuing any momentum on that would be fine.

Good Phil’s Good Questions | PM Special Elections

I. What do you have to say to those that do not consider you a serious candidate who is aware of TSP’s needs?

II. From your campaign post, am I to assume that you have no conflicts of interest whatsoever?

III. What are some ideas from your competitors’ campaigns you think are good enough to be implemented if you win the PMship? Which ones are terrible? Explain your thought process behind both, please?

IV. Where do you think TSP is headed, under each relevant Candidate?

That said, all the best for your election!

I. I would say that I am capable, I am willing to learn, and that I am committed to TSP.

  1. That’s right. My only conflict of interest, I suppose would be being MoC currently. I have never resided in a region other than TSP other for R/D purposes, which I conducted under the SPSF.

  2. I think that Utopia’s restructuring of the Ambassador Corps is a treat idea. It would definitely be a boon for getting people into FA. I would definitely work with them on this along with my FA minister if I was elected. I also like Jay’s recruitment competitions as an MoI project. I do not like to put my fellow candidates down, but I am unsure of the merits of Name 0’s idea of splitting the Tsunami Force into two branches. Considering that there’s not a significant difference between minor and major update procedures aside from the amount of time the update takes (which is something that only matters to command, not the troops) and I don’t think it makes sense to restructure the SPSF in that way. We already understand that people may or may not be able to attend minor or major updates, and no other military I know of is structured that way.

  3. I think that TSP is definitely in good hands. I like the detailed and disciplined projects under Utopia and Jay, and I also like the new perspectives that can be given by Raven or Name 0. While I have preferences, I am not against any candidate.

Would it not be more accurate to say that given the differences in timezones, having a dedicated TL for both Update times would be, in isolation, a good idea?

It’s simply not necessary, and removes a lot of flexibility. Most of our Admirals can attend both updates, and we already allow people to attend whatever update they can. All this would do, in my opinion, is create unnecessary bureaucracy to solve a problem that does not presently exist. I cannot think of an organizational inefficiency that has occurred due to not having separate commands or forces per update- in fact, many times the same operation can occur during different updates on the same day if it’s a particularly contested lib, so it could be beneficial to have the same CO for both of those operations.
