I’m not sure I see the point. If someone thinks their rights have been violated they can already petition the Court to review the incident and render judgement, including ordering the relevant government bodies to take whatever action is needed. Wouldn’t an ombudsman just insert additional bureaucracy to the process?
STATEMENT BY THE ERSTAVIK CAMPAIGN
Fellow, Distinguished, and Honorable South Pacificans:
I have just sent a telegram to @Pronoun to congratulate them on their victory. I wish them every success in their term as Prime Minister and I am confident that they will serve the South Pacific admirably. They have my full support.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who voted for me and supported my campaign, whether on the RMB, here on the forum, or through the many encouraging telegrams I received. A special thanks goes to @NewAtlanticStates, @Legendian, @1q2w3e4r5t6y , Estados Americanos do Sul, @UncleJoe, and @The_Weirdo for their steadfast support and kind words throughout this journey.
I would also like to thank @NewAtlanticStates and @Non-Believers for nominating me for this position. Their support from the very beginning was invaluable, and I am deeply grateful for the confidence they placed in me.
I also wish to express my appreciation to my opponent, @UnitedDisneyStates, for their kindness and camaraderie during this election. Your graciousness meant a great deal to me, and I hope the friendship we have built endures long into the future. I look forward to collaborating with you as fellow legislators in the Assembly.
This election was hard-fought, but despite that it was marked by civility and mutual respect. The focus of our campaigns was on presenting ideas and proposals to improve the South Pacific, rather than engaging in personal attacks. A precedent I sincerely hope will continue to define this region’s politics.
The overarching theme of my campaign was bridging the gap between the gameside and the off-site. I wanted to encourage more nations to participate in our government, help advance newcomers to positions of power through a cursus honorum, improve government transparency and accountability, reform the Citizenship Committee and the Sunshine Act, establish an Assembly Ombudsman to safeguard fundamental rights and the rule of law, launch a regional newspaper, revitalize recruitment efforts, restart the ambassador program, and strengthen our influence in the World Assembly, among other initiatives.
I still believe that these ideas would help move the South Pacific forward and make our great region even greater. I believe in the South Pacific, and I believe in you, the South Pacificans. That is why I chose to run for this office.
Now, I return to my roles as Emperor of Erstavik and legislator in the Assembly of the South Pacific. In these capacities, I will continue working to advance the region and work to advance my ideas through legislation.
With unwavering loyalty and admiration to all and everyone in the South Pacific,
I remain,
EMPEROR LUKE
Congrats on the good campaign showing! The next election is only three months away, so I hope to see you run again!
