What do you exactly mean as different? I’m not gonna be doing an exact carbon copy of Germany, tho its history, general goals and aesthetics will be similar. And I’ll be using google translate german a lot.

It kinda makes sense for the straight lines in the western continent (which I’m guessing is supposed to represent the irl North and South America) and the central continent (which I’m also guessing is supposed to represent the irl Africa)

what are we doing population wise
I’m going off of mid 1800s Ottoman Empire population numbers to roughly estimate how much population I should have. It’s not going to be permanent as idrk what @Galaxiel is going to say

That depends. If you use magic you can regulate the overall tech and population numbers to be higher, and further in the decades.
After all you can basically do smartphones with steampunk/dieselpunk and proper magic. So yeah, just keep it lower than today, but other than that you can go higher than pre-WW1 stats.
