This amendment brings the RO act in line with how excess RO positions have been used. The executive makes far more use of RO positions than the CRS does, and has more need for them.
I’m not sure I see this one. The RO Act as written says the CRS gets minimum 3 slots, the RMB Moderation team gets maximum 5 spots, and then the PM can appoint as many ROs as they want to fill all other slots. Then, if the PM didn’t actually fill all the slots, the spares go to the CRS. It’s easier to just give RO power to additional CRS members on the list of CRS members and this way the Delegate has to make use of all 12 slots (and can’t pull anything weird with not giving slots to the CRS).
Would you be able to elaborate more on this, specifically on what the CRS can/should be doing with their RO slots?
Strongly disagree on the expansion of the executive’s RO slots at the expense of the regional security apparatus, at least without a really sufficient explanation for it. Right now, I am not convinced.
I would rather see visible security on my region than every minister.
Going further, I would rather see representatives from each branch/function of government (CoA, CJ, CRS, PM, Cab, Del, EC) than visible security in my region.
If people see that their is (for example) a CoA or a CJ RO then it might make a new nation more likely to join the forums and government if they physically see that we have other branches of government that might interest them rather than a having to read a wordy guide or regional laws to find out what’s available.

Under no circumstances will I support removing Border Control ROs with influence and the trust of the Coalition to protect it, in favor of a largely administrative leader of the judicial system.

RO slots serve two main purposes:
- Visibility
- Being able to use RO powers
The CRS benefits very little in visibility from simply having more RO slots. It already has three, and adding more won’t make it any more visible. If visibility is the concern, then have a CRS member promoted in the display order so you can see them from the region page.
In terms of RO powers, you technically only need one CRS member to have Comms powers for the body to send regional TGs. BC powers are the only RO power that benefits from more positions as you have more available influence. However, the CRS is not guaranteed those extra slots, they are not a thing that can be relied upon at every single point in time. Additionally in an event where they’re using all available influence of ROs there are bigger problems on the table where it is likely justified to use other powers of the CRS to ensure regional security. Cutting into the excess slots is a minimal effect on the region’s security apparatus.
The RO act doesn’t really specify how the PM’s ability to discretionarily grant RO powers works in regards to allotted slots, and I wanted to clarify that a bit.
I propose this alternate wording for the amendment:
Highlighting other branches of the coalition would be better in the WFE than wasting RO slots on positions that don’t need to utilize RO powers.
It actually does - the PM gets to discretionarily grant the RO slots as long as 3 are reserved for the CRS and up to 5 are reserved for the RMB Moderation team. The way your new proposed amendment is worded is literally just the status quo. It’s unnecessary.
i am also unsure if this would be needed. as HS said, the PM already can give more RO slots. i don’t see that new wording simplifying things- might make them more complicated, even, or at least redundant.
