Aleutria is banned from the South Pacific following multiple violations of the explicit materials portion of the Community Guidelines in quick succession. Slightly suggestive content is at times OK, as long as the content is entirely above-board, fully consensual, and the content is mild in nature. Aleutria’s posts have deviated from that pattern, and continued to do so after a final warning was issued.
We understand it has been shocking for lots of people to see so many bans handed down in quick succession. That is understandable. A lot of this stems from having identified some users who were posting problematic content and then observing how others interact with this content. By following up on the leads that our initial reports revealed, we are gradually working through relevant interactions and connections.
Aleutria may appeal by sending a DM to any Moderator, and their appeal will be heard by a panel of uninvolved Moderators.
I’m not sure if this is the right thing to ask, but is there like a specific example for what does count as “slightly suggestive,” or is it in the realm of “if you have to ask, don’t post it”
We want our community to be accessible to anybody who is allowed to play NationStates. This means we’re not an adults-only community. Everybody is expected to behave as they would in a setting with minors as young as 13.
Explicit Material: We’re not all adults here. Erotic roleplay, sharing pornographic or overly suggestive material, sending nudes, cybersexing, or excessive public displays of affection are forbidden on all offsite property regulated by TSP and will likely lead to an immediate permanent ban. Sexuality should be avoided entirely and may at most be mildly hinted, but anything explicit or excessive will result in a proportional moderation response. Excessive gore, violence, or incivility may also be considered actionable. In general, do not post anything would not be allowed in a PG-13 movie.
Due to the nature of the content posted and rules implicated, I won’t be reposting the precise content that Aleutria was warned and banned for. That said, two clarifications:
We reviewed content that, while I won’t get into specifics, I will say clearly went far beyond just ‘kissing.’
In general, there is a difference between movies for 13-year-olds that depict kissing and content involving other users in our region. As Drystar quoted above, “Everybody is expected to behave as they would in a setting with minors as young as 13” — not just if we were on a movie set with a 13-year-old audience, but rather knowing that the individuals in our community that we are interacting with can be as young as 13.
