A1-0 Low Hanging Fruit

I’m starting to develop the Twilight Ascendancy again and ended up making a Regional Map. I have not yet made a legend as most of the planetary markings were on a whim and I have yet to decide their canonicity

Had a fun idea and decided to go through with it. Would recommend everyone who wants to participate to do a bit of research on how WEC works to know what to expect. I’m open to any questions

as part of the voidsea rewrite, here is national boundries map

*The ellipse here stipulates the location where the Syndicate Core Territories are located. It does not show an actual border, as the territories are a closely guard secret, with only a select few being able to travel there

the rest of the space shown here are independent polities and nations, too small to be shown as actual nations

some lore for the ongoing war

Essentially while it’s not said here, the Seran Unitary Republic claims a portion of space to its spin that Omaso contests

so every so often a Seran Navy force will go in to enforce these claims, and get turned around by an Omaso force staged nearby

The Seran Navy enlists the help of mercenaries to track the movements of Omasan naval assets, and jumps them when a majority are in harbor (first post)

As for ideologies

the Seran Unitary Republic is nationalist democracy, they value service to the state above all else, and are part of a group called unionists who wish to see the voidsea reunited under one nation

the Omaso Directorate is an authoritarian technocratic regime, they value the advancement of technology. They’re part of the collectivists, who would prefer the voidsea as it is

Unionists are often called bellhaulers or bells

Collectivists are often called wickerbaskets or wickers

so among political parties in the voidsea there’s a binary collectivist/unionist

I.e

there can be collectivist socialist and unionist socialist, and they may even be in the same coalition, but they’ll disagree on whether or not the voidsea should unite as one big nation or not

I’d just like to remind everyone that memetic warfare is a real thing and it is literally PSYWAR/IW using good old fashioned memes. It is no fancy sci fi thing.

In a sense. Though the memes used in memetic warfare by the Confluence are far different from our own internet memes.

The only thing they really have in common is being a unit for carrying ideas and symbols that can be transmitted from one mind to another through various means.

They’re a component of cyberwarfare, really.

SYSTEMS OF THE CONFLUENCE CORES

Achshelar - capital of the Confluence, home to the main processing nodes of the Sequence and to some of the main functions of common government. Currently most infrastructurally developed system in the Confluence, as all available mass has been harvested and transformed into habitats and megastructures (including the central star). Like most highly-developed systems in the Confluence, Achshelar is actually rather sparsely populated, but due to the sheer amount of available living space it is still the civilization’s biggest population center. It is also home to the largest societies of HyperAIs.

New Sol - regional capital of the Confluence, and central system of the Terragen Core. An artificial recreation of the original interplanetary-age solar system built around a modified sun-analogue star, though over the millennia New Sol has considerably diverged and developed compared to its original plans. It is also one of the only two systems in the Cores (alongside Lux’saah) where a sufficiently considerable portion of the population lives on planets and on planet-based infrastructure.

Lux’saah - regional capital of the Confluence, and central system of the Silvalian Core. Relatively quaint compared to other Core systems, the primary “megastructure” is a dyson swarm of large-scale dyson trees and other biotech habitats that “float” inside of an equally large orbital niven cloud. Closer to the star a more “proper” dyson swarm of statites is in place to regulate and distribute radiant energy, while further out are the oldest worlds of the Silvalians, including Silvalia herself, the ancestral homeworld of all Colestians. Lux’saah is also one of the only two systems in the Cores (alongside New Sol) where a sufficiently considerable portion of the population lives on planets and on planet-based infrastructure.

Ourem - regional capital of the Confluence, and central system of the Galactyakin Core. The main megastructure is a large dyson sphere surrounding two binary stars, encapsulating Galactya, the ancestral homeworld of all Galactyakin species. Reflecting the practices common across most of the clade family’s societies, Ourem is home to a vast amount of extreme and exotic environments suited for the equally exotic clades uplifted or created by the Kesheia and their descendants.

Pridegrove - the main megastructure of the system is a fractal biotechnological dyson sphere, a megascale grove of dyson trees that, kept in shape by light pressure and a thin monomatter frame, acts as a support structure for smaller habitats.

Ouroboros - the system is home to what is currently the biggest circumstellar topopoli in the Confluence. Respectively at 1, 3, 5 and 7 AUs from Ouroboros the four topopoli - Apophis, Python, Mahoraga and Myndie - have a cumulative surface area of more than 2 million Earth-like planets.

Eternal Crown - the system is home to a cylindrical dyson shell passively supported by a monomatter frame and actively supported by rotation. Closer to the star (more than is conventionally done in the Confluence) is a small-but-dense dyson swarm that regulates and equalizes the radiant energy across the inner surface to recreate a day-night cycle.

Star of the Oceans - major system situated at the blurred “edge” between the Terragen and Galactyakin Cores, result of an ancient cooperation project between various groups of the two civilizations (with multiple additions from other, later civs). Star of the Oceans is home to the largest habitable microgravity environments in the Confluence: vast niven clouds and knotted topopolis-like water cylinders crown the central skysphere, a titanic bubble of breathable air surrounding the central star from 0.6 to 1.2 AUs. A dyson swarm “under” the skysphere regulates the star’s light emission, while multiple microgravity airspheres orbit in a large belt beyond the niven clouds and water tori-knots.

Cadeau Lumineuse - host to a large “traditional Earth model” ringworld that is 1 AU in radius and has a surface width (or height) of 1.6 million kilometers, with a total surface area of 3 million Earth-like planets. Many anachronistic and low-tech groups can be found living on the ring, especially on the flattened recreations of Earth’s planetary surface.

Verchessen - a system specifically developed by the Overlords Nis’gahav and Karheismas to act, along others, as a dyson fortress to which the population of the Confluence can move in situations that could threaten the civilization at large (i.e. high-intensity swarms or particularly hardened hegemonizing swarm invasions). Due to this, the dyson’s well-defended habitats were chosen as the new (temporary) home of the rescued Otmoonan slaves.

Sauphuntus - highly-developed system in the Capital Core, home to a combined Matryoshka Brain and habitative dyson swarm/shell. The system at large is perhaps one of the most important philosophical, religious and academic melting pots in the entire Confluence, being home to innumerable philosophical schools, academies and universities of the highest prestige. The Matryoshka Brain in particular is home to many dozens of HyperAI Dominions belonging to the court of Lady Maya, a Prince from the Burning Spheres mostly concerned with creating vast and exotic digital worlds as part of eir philosophical theories and experiments.

HADURIAN BELT - four supergiant highly-metallic stars in the Capital Core that became the new primary industrial and tech advancement centers of the Confluence, both for general technological production, military industry and the development of new technologies. It is important to note that the Belt isn’t the only industrial/military center of the Confluence, only its biggest one: production and development still remain highly decentralized.

  • Ishvakar - the main “forge” of Verchamelo, Overlord of Technology and head of the Eternal Forge. Through its great megastructural apparatus the system is responsible for producing vast amounts of advanced, powerful technologies that are then redistributed throughout the Confluence, such as monomatter (raw and manufactured), Q-Balls, antimatter, exotic matter and energy, Void warp drives and bubbles, computronium substrates and femtoprecision forcefield tech.

  • Sandraudiga - a binary system repurposed into being the primary production center for weaponry and military technology used by Karheismas, Overlord of Defense and head of the Empire of Lights. Here, military units and weaponry of all kinds (especially spacetime/metric weapons) are mass-produced and stockpiled for times of need. The system also acts as a major training ground for all classes of military HyperAIs, with virtual simulations being complemented by physical practice in the dark, empty space farther outwards.

  • Obatala - one of the biggest centers of technological advancement in the Confluence, dedicated to the development of new technologies and the improvement of older ones. Also overseen by Verchamelo, though with ample collaboration from the other Overlords and their hierarchies, the system’s immense computational substrates have been responsible for many of the greatest scientific and technological breakthroughs of Confluent history. Whenever the Sequence reaches a new important conclusion or makes a new discovery, Obatala is usually the first to know, and makes itself responsible to spread the knowledge and implement it in the Confluence’s tech tree.
